i HATE digital effects and modelers. too sterile and unnatural for my ears

I've decided im only going to get the new tubes for my hiwatt and im gonna try Winged "C" EL34's in my overtone and see how i like them, and if i do ill buy another set.

i really dislike JJ tubes and tungsol's are on sale so maybe i'll swap those too

i was thinking of putting

Mullard 12AX7 in V1
Tungsol 12AX7 in V2 (i hear good things about the od on these tubes)
JAN-Philips 12AT7WC in V3

i was thinking of keeping the JJ power tubes or changing to the Winged "C" SED 6L6's and using the JJ's as spares

what do you guys think. before i buy them i want to get some ideas from you guys

im a santana fan just not a huge one and IMO Marin kicked his ass

way nicer than santana. both the playing and tone exceded carlos

its a hiwatt clone.

hiwatts have amazing cleans (better  than any fender and the OTS IMO) and when you open them up they get such a pleasant overdrive tone. Im in the process of getting my bright channel turned into a normal channel so i can use it with an A/B/Y box on my hiwatt.

i generally like 12 inch speakers better but i will be experementing with one 10 inch jensen in a rotating speaker cab once i get a 2x12. i know alot of people like to mix different size speakers. ive seen people mix 10,12 and 15 inch speakers in their setup, even 10, 12, 18 inch combos

im assuming its a triode/pentonde switch to make it half power

its all preferance. personally i would go with the 2x12

well yesterday i tried something that i wanted to share. i placed a real tube distortion pedal in my FX loop(i dont have a kleinulator) i set the volume on the pedal to full and the drive low enough so it stayed clean but still got a nice boost. I set the EQ on the pedal to about 30-40% treble, 100% mids, and 85% bass.
This seems like a dark setting  but it added alot of sparkle but also fattened the tone and gave me way better punch and bass response.

im used to my hiwatt which doesnt have very sensative tone controls so the OTS seems very tweekable to me, it helps to have more developed ears. most tube amps dont have a very wide range on their tone controls you have to be more used to it. Most of the big tone changes will be the work of your fingers when you play, just remember that.

i can do Zappa and Hendrix tones with the same exact setup and settings all i do is change the way i play

i like marshall cleans much more than fender cleans IMO they sound way warmer and thicker

neither it would give you more highend on the od channel

i was thinking of getting a 2x12 from weber with a G12-65 and G12-30 with an alnico magnet (weber makes them) but right now i dont have the money for that. and right now my only source of income is from small gigs
