256  Ceriatone / Overtone / Re: Getting a smoother sound on: August 26, 2008, 06:27:33 AM
When did you get your OTS?  I just got mine a few weeks ago & it's snubbers are still at 390pf.

i also got mine a few weeks ago around august 8th

on a side note...

once i get some cash i'll be changing the V1 and V3 tubes to mullard 12ax7's and the V2 to a tungsol. if i decide to change the power tubes i'd go with winged SED's.

right now its got all JJ's and they seem pretty cheap.

I need some cash so if anyone is interested in a 1974 Marshall JMP check the classified section or PM me thanks Smiley

259  Ceriatone / Overtone / Getting a smoother sound on: August 21, 2008, 04:44:42 AM
i really want a smoother sound out of my overtone on the cleans and especially on the overdrive.
i'm using a G&L S-500 (strat) and a 4x12 with celestion 25 watt greenbacks. also there a little more highend than i want but i think if it was smoother it wouldnt bother me as much.

Anytips would be usefull

thanks,
JD
260  British Style / Plexi Lead, Bass, Superlead / Re: how loud is your 1987? on: August 20, 2008, 05:27:17 AM
i play gigs, pretty large ones, and my two main amps are a 1982 50 watt hiwatt and ceriatone OTS(50watt). with my hiwatt i've never gone above 9 oclock with the ots usually around 4 or 5 (about 11 oclock) they are both plenty loud but those marshalls are meant to be pushed loud. maybe your eq or speakers are the problem. i play with alot of mids which helps cut through
261  Ceriatone / Overtone / Re: FX loop wierdness on: August 17, 2008, 04:59:12 PM
i was having the same problem running a bbe sonic maximizer through the FX loop

Was? did you cure it? I'm thinking of getting one of those myself.

Thanks

Hywel Harris

i didnt fix the problem yet i just run it infront of the amp instead of the FX loop for now. the sonic maximizer sounds really good on the clean channel but it changes your OD alot, you would have to see if you like it yourself
262  Ceriatone / Overtone / Re: Amp problem on: August 17, 2008, 06:56:10 AM

265  Ceriatone / Overtone / Amp problem on: August 16, 2008, 01:23:00 AM
My overtone seems to be acting up. when i strum a chord i get a bad unmusical distortion, the harder i strum the worse it gets.
It happens mostly on the clean channel the OD is affect as much but there is some dregrading of the sound

267  Ceriatone / Overtone / Re: PAB tuning on: August 06, 2008, 04:25:43 AM
PAB= preamp boost. it bypasses the tone controls for a boost
268  Ceriatone / Overtone / PAB tuning on: August 05, 2008, 05:37:29 PM
Is there anyway to setup your amp or modify it to get more of a boost from the PAB and also get a darker fatter tone

Im selling my 1974 Marshall JMP.
I just retubed with a nice set of 6550 powertubes and it sounds great.
It has an added master volume and also a boost which is activated by a footswitch.
This amp has balls.
Its a four input amp normal and bright channels high and low sensitivity.

Post any questions

Asking $1400 but willing to do trades too

Thanks,
JD
