im not really after a particular players tone, but i want a really warm fat smooth tone.

Right now the amp seems sort of harsh and icy picky in the highs, which im trying to stay away from.

Yea i would just buy a separate reverb unit. i cant point you to some really good ones if you need.

I'm almost 100% sure nik wont be adding reverb to any of the amps, for cost reasons and because adding reverb actually changes the sound of an amp in a negative way, even if the reverb is off. Personally i dont like using reverb i set an analog delay to taste.

Let me know if you want some good suggestions for reverb

I heard preamp tubes make a big difference in this amp depending on what you use.

Does anyone have any suggestions on which ones would be good.

i hated the overdrive on the vintage modern, but if you set it clean with the mid boost and put the master pretty high i really like that tone

im supposed to get my amp this week. Nik told me the faceplates would come monday and i was kindof hoping it would have been shipped out by tuesday night in US time which would be wednsday in Malaysia. i guess i need to be more pacient i know Nik is busy

well i have an old hiwatt, and a 74 Marshall JMP. i love the sound of the OT over both those amps.

although sometimes i use the hiwatt as a clean amp to widen my setups sound

I voted other. I would say maybe a simpler Mesa or a carvin

make sure the two switches on the back are set to "pedal"

My two suggestions would be get the OTS with some speakers that will cater to your sound more.
the celestion 100watt speakers have big bottom end and scoop some mids for you, you might like those.
Or get a clean tube amp with pedals or maybe even a modeler, but i would say a couple of pedals should do it.

could you try it again without the midscoop from the GE7? i'd like to hear the difference
