Hello,

 It has to happen!  Grin

A scaled down, single ended overtone special.

Bare bones, but with all the tones...

This is my contribution (some at another place will argue it's my greed, but thats OK) for low volume D style amp, and for those on a budget.

It should serve as a good introduction to this style, without breaking the bank (I hope).

Price unknown yet but believe me I am trying hard to keep it real low for this type of handwired amp!

Thanks!

Nik

If the S&M is what he was talking about it's not any cheaper than the OTS.  Sad

The S&M is just a variation of the OTS. Actually it looks like the first version of the OTS that came out.. which was changed later to the current version after some mods suggested by a few forum users (JZucker in particular). Probably some people asked for the old version, after hearing Sami and Marin clips (which used early versions OTS to make those clips), and Nik decided to have it, again, available for customers who were after those sounds..

The S&M is not a mini-OTS. Not at all..

The S&M is not the amp Nik is talking about in this thread. I am a total newby when it comes to building amps so I asked you guys about your thoughts on building the OTS as a first build and I also emailed Nik to get his opinion and mentioned this thread - a 5watt mini.

Here is his reply to my email,

"Indeed, I'd not recommend the OTS as 1st time build, it can get complicated although some others have done it successfully. Yes, we're releasing a single ended D style amp, that one will be much simpler to do! Perhaps wait for that one, at the end of the month? Thanks!
Nik"

I've already decided I am going to build my next amp and I really want an OTS so I'm waiting and watching!!

Come on Nik, pull your finger out.

All the time you're not selling this, we're not buying it Wink

Seriously, I'd like to know what this thing is going to look like. And GAS isn't a proper reason for a divorce anyway. Any news?

Nik,

PLEASE throw us a bone about the Overtone Mini 5 SE...it sounds like a perfect fit for so many of us on the forums.

Have you prototyped it yet, or is it still in the idea phase?

Many thanks,

EdV

OTS was my first build. Took a long time, but was not as bad as I had heard. I had never built any amp before and mine is  quite nice. I even built the cab from red oak.

I've been waiting to see what is developed and comes out, but I grow weary of the wait. Those Brown Note 22watt amps sound pretty good.
