I couldn't get a 50/50 axial type filter cap... so I just went with another 50/50 Can type JJ cap.

I thought building this amp would be a piece of cake but you know with populating the board and soldering the wire leads... it took some effort after all.

I finished this amp yesterday, so no clips yet but I will make some.

Not a kit from Nik... just chassis, faceplate and empty board came from Nik

Had to improvise a little,... cause I couldn't get those special caps Nik gets from somewhere...

I think it turned out quite well...

Well it is... just think about it... pot works no matter how it's turned.

Yes it is...

It was a custom order... if there would be a market for it, I could easily order more... but it is always a bit tricky to order these stuff in quantity isn't it.

What about something like this....
...just finished this one for a friend of mine.

It has a bypass switch and parallel/serial switch as well.

Well I own an attenuator... a friend built one for me... but I never used it much.
At the end of the day I'm a clean amp guy and it took me a while to admit that.

Here's mine...

Got to crank the amp today and it is a rock monster. This thing is not meant to be a practice amp. It is meant to be the loudest F'ing thing on the stage apparently.

...and that's the reason why I sold mine... I like to hide sometimes.... to blend in within the bend... you know just lay back and enjoy but with this amp no way... it just can't be done... you have to be there in the spot light all the time

Isn't that rewarding... I mean power up the amp you build for the first time.  Wink
Looking at yours almost makes me sorry I sold my "Enja" a while ago.

Where did you get the chassis?
72  Ceriatone / Overtone / Re: new valves on: July 06, 2011, 05:58:10 AM
Well, I intentional use new production tubes in my amps only... I have two big reasons for it...

1.) Currently own 5 amps, if I would use NOS tubes for all of them I would become insolvent  Grin
2.) Once I settle on the tubes I usually mod the amp to suit me best... if I would do this with some rare NOS tubes, I would mod my amps quite often. With easy to get new production tubes this is not a problem.

I just hope they didn't help themselves to any parts that they may have considered of value. That kind of thing happens in Thailand

Can you post some gut pictures...we can identify quite easily if something was replaced

... and now when you are in the big league, you will stop supporting the small guy will you...

I know you're not like that

BTW Congrats to you

Sorry for my ignorance but I thought the whole point was to even out the voltage and making sure it always is 220V?
I sometimes feel voltage drops changes the sound. But I must confess this is based on knowledge just on gut feeling.

You are right but a device which keeps the voltage at 220V is not cheap... that's why I decided that at least I should have a voltmeter. This way I can at least see what's going on with the wall voltage.
