So what do you think of the amp? what;s the verdict? Grin

Well, it's obviously a great amp and it's very sensitive to adjustment. I have only played through it about 4 or 5 hours. Hopefully I'll have more time to tweak it this weekend. The last clip was done with reverb and delay in the loop. It definitely is more pleasing to play through with reverb and delay. My kleinulator should arrive this week.

By the way, I told Mike Klein about this group and he's going to sign up and introduce himself. He says he may make a run of these if there is enough interest.

do a google search for amp-garage. You can find the circuit diagrams there. I just posted there that I was looking for one and had someone build it for me.

you don't need a $600 loop. The klein-ulator I had made was around $125 if memory serves correctly. You can get a tube dumbleator made for under $250 and there are other devices out there for less than $200.

By the way, the digitech digiverb and Goudie Delay work pretty well in the effect loop. You lose a little gain but I'm pretty happy with the results. here's a clip: http://www.sheetsofsound.net/demos/ceriatone8.mp3

I think it'll be better with my klein-ulator though...

i added reverb in software (cheating). I'm running it now with a pedal in the loop and i'm losing some gain and a little tone but it's still great.

hmm the experts agree on the quality of the Springy but seem to disagree a bit on it working well in the FX loop.
I'm curious about this. I do love the simplicity and vintage sound of the pedal!

You will lose some gain and a bit of tone using the springy in the effect loop but you can still get some great sounds with it. For most playing, you can compensate with the tone controls of the amp but the dumbleator will make it sound even better. I have a klein-ulator coming later in the week.

I think Nik is going to offer a dumbleator in a couple months. It'd be cool if he made a klein-ulator available as well...

my attenuator was on by mistake  Embarrassed

I'll definitely do some more clips including with my 339.

Oh, and my speakers are Emi RW&B speakers. I do not like the Celestion 1265 speakers because they have no highs and lows though they definitely sound better for the Robben-tone than anything else other than maybe an EV12L. However, I also like to get SRV "lenny" tones out of my amps and the 1265 sounds awful for that kind of stuff so unless I want to have a dedicated cab just for the robben tone, I make do with the rw&b.

Nice review. Great playing

I wish you had posted some clips with a guitar with single coils though.
How clean is the clean channel? There';s some break up in your tone there. I realise that's what you want but for me it's importanmt that the clean channel remains clean at "high" volume.

I'll do some videos with my strat as well. I'm planning on doing a lot more videos and they will get better as I become familiar with the amp. Those vids were done only hours after unboxing it.

I was playing pretty loud. If you notice, the master is cranked and the input gain is 1/2 way up. I will do some more clips at more reasonable volume levels. There is a huge amount of headroom on this amp. You could easily use it for funk rhythm or even a jazz gig in the clean channel. The clean channel also sounds amazing with pedals...

i use a lee jackson mr springy but any pedal you use will need a dumbleator of some type. I may be getting a t-rex reverb pedal to try. I really like the lee jackson though. It's the best I've heard in a pedal and sounds good for clean or high gain. It's so good, I turn the reverb off in my vintage style BF amps.
