No, it is on V1 first anod.
In S&M, OTS and HRM resistor is 150k, sits behind 0,1mf cap.
On BM it's 47k.
On my 50w I have 56k and on 100w OTS I have 68k.

so this resistor moves the centre of the trebles and bass frequency response to higher values? |

Erwin thanks mate, This amp is S&M and incoming one is an OTS. I wonder how it will take the tweaks.
 I was in the presumption you modded your amp more towards a bluesmaster. Lower slope resistor etc. That’s right, on V1 - 56k on slope with a switch goes to 150k and also another switch changes a 220k plate resistor to 150k. Lots of combinations. My favourite is 220k plate and 56k slope. I’m crazy perfectionist, I tweak all the time. sorry for my ignorance pickmaster, is the slop resistor you refer to replacing the 47k one to the grid? |

i recently swapped the original JJ preamp tubes in OTS for Electro Harmonix 12ax7's.... i must say the difference is remarkable!!!!!, my strat is more musical, in both the clean and dirty channels. but the dirty channel now chimes more and nails the mayer/SRV tones very well. my 335 now gets a tone close to greg allman/dicky betts.
i have ordered some reissue mullards now to see if there is any further improvement. in comparison, the jj's sounded a little dark, but did have more gain.
i wonder is anyone else has experimented with different preamp tube brands? i'd love to hear some opinions

you know guys.... i have an OTS HRM and its a matter of adapting yr technique to get the sound, just like the guys who go for the robben ford sound on the OTS.
i used the OTS in a gig last night, using my own custom mini 335, and got great peter green tones, and also sounds which approached albert king. but i hardly changed my tone settings (albeit they were quite clean). its technique.
same goes with my old voxac30, plenty of cleans and lovely tones when it starts to break up. i have no qualms whatsoever using either. you just have to use yr ears and adapt yr setting and technique accordingly.
at home, for SRV tones, i set the OT POT a little under half way and OD gain at about 2 or 3 with all 3 front panel switches down. works well. at gigs however, the clean channel at higher volumes breaks up nicely and i use that on boost from the footswitch (again, all switches in the down position). depending on which tone i am after, i may use the mid boost switch which breaks it up a little more and add some sustain.
bear in mind however i have a CLOSED back on my OTS, and it will respond a little differently to open back because if this.

i have been using a GNX4 with all amp sims turned off, no eq ....just reverb and delay settings and running it through the loop with a klein. it works extremely well, and you have the option of using the expression pedal to control reverb level, or delay time . and you have all the options of many different types of effects |
