I'm looking at the deep switch mod by Mcinku and noticed not only does it have the deep switch added but some of the values for the bright switch are different from current OTS versions.
Is there a reason why you changed the values in the bright or was that on your version when you bought it?
I've not used it in the loop, but in line with guitar - the Spring Chicken was a little too over the top for my personal likes. Very springy... it that was a word. I guess very sensitive to the settings may best describe it.
I bought a Digitech Hardwire RV-7 reverb and it works great in the loop and in line. It has a good spring sound, but I really prefer plate reverb.
I'am trying to get this kind of sound is this a recording with some effects? or does the speaker make a lot of difference?
This guy does have a killer tone in this clip. Of course with my clip I'm playing single coils so I know I cannot achieve this sound.
I like the sound of my amp, but I'm still playing with the sound trying to tweek it. I'm not 100% happy at this point. But overall it does sustain for days with certain notes on certain guitars. Another thing with my clip is that the Port City cab came with Celestion Vintage 30 not the loved G12s and I think that makes a difference.
I just posted a clip of my OTS in the "sound clips" thread. I know you asked without any effects, but mine does have a slight reverb running thru the loop section. The reverb can be heard more live than it shows up in the recording.
Here is my OTS played thru a 1x12" Port City Cabinet. Running a Digitech RV-7 reverb thru the loop; the RV-7 is set on "plate." Home brew strat - body & neck from Stew Mac. Neck pup from a 25th anniversary strat, middle from a 72 strat, and bridge pup is a seymour Lil 59.
No you cannot just put a jumper between those spots. The wire used there should be a shielded wire. That connection on the "T" that shows a little circle indicates that you will connect the first tab to the sheilded part of the wire. If you notice that first tab is connected to the bus bar up above.
I've been searching for a head cabinet for my OTS but so far I've only found Gabkits and another whose cabs are all flame wood - a train wreck type look; these are very nice but pricey.
Do you have any resources or suggestions? I'm in the states.
Well I have to say it because the original post said, "Please don't tell me Vintage 30's."
I have only tried V30's because that is what's loaded in my Port City Wave cabinet. I'll eventually get around to trying different speakers but for now it's V30s. Sorry.
I had a couple of grounding issues that I found last night. I corrected it and she's alive. It was late when I finished so I didn't get to play for very long. I'll need to adjust the internal trimmers and I see that most here like around the 9 or 9.30 range.
Any suggested settings for the FET trimmer? I've not found many threads about that one.
