1  Community / Classifieds / FS UK BASED:- OTS Head Shell, Matching 3U Rack Shell + 2x12 CABS. on: August 22, 2015, 11:43:53 AM
Ceriatone OTS headshell.

I made two of these as I had plans to build two of the kits. Things change and my amp building plans have moved on to other ideas so this shell is for sale. £110 plus shipping (not sure how much it would be maybe £10?)

3U rack shell

I also have a matching 3U rack shell which I use very occasionally with my other OTS, as seen here. The second photo is the one I have for sale, being used as a temporary home for a drum mixer (also for sale!). This is available either as a bare shell (including the 3U side mounts, and screws etc) or I could cover it and fit it out with feet, corner protectors etc. As is £30 plus shipping. For a finished cost we'd have to agree a spec, (I have some black and some Red and Orange tolex, same stuff as Dr Z uses)

2x12 Cab

Finally I have two oversize 2x12 cabs in the course of finishing. One is going to a mate and the other is up for grabs. At the moment it is a bare shell built to a high spec. 18mm birch ply with dovetail joints, dimensions 800mm x 600mm x 300mm, black inside. 15mm birch baffle with two 12" speaker cutouts each with 8 M5 teenuts. Rear is 12mm ply with a big oval port a la Dumble cabs. Baffle mounts are fitted.

These really do sound big when fitted with good drivers. I have an EV and a Red Fang in mine which is excellent, the orange one below has an EV and a Gold is brighter and easily a mtach for a Marshall 2x12 in sound. IT is available as a project shell if you want to finish it off, price is £120 or finished the same as the one below (without metal side handles or casters though these can be added at cost) for £250. Happy to fit your drivers for you and wire them up. I have more photos that I took when constructing the final one. Prefer collection on this as its so big.

2  Ceriatone / Overtone / Re: Adjusting Preamp voltages in OTS 50(?) on: October 21, 2013, 02:55:22 PM
These voltages are with valves in all the sockets?

How is you wall voltage?

Did you use Ceriatone trannies?

Do you have Niks voltage chart for your model? They do vary from model to model.
3  Ceriatone / Overtone / Re: Modding my OTS to original Dumble spec? on: October 06, 2013, 08:46:35 AM
You do know that every ODS that came from HAD was different? Before making the changes, do some research to find out the characteristics of the model the schematic came from. Some were voiced to a particular guitar and yours might be very different.
4  Ceriatone / Overtone / Re: Low voltage. Help!? on: August 29, 2013, 08:16:48 AM
If your clean is OK then you just need to double and triple check your OD wiring right back to the relay.

Also your PI voltages are way off. Which would indicate to me your clean isn't going to be OK either. I'd sort that first.
5  Ceriatone / Overtone / Re: is it possible to switch a 50w HRM to a 100w after the build is complete? on: July 12, 2013, 08:16:21 AM
And you do know a 100watter is only a smidge louder than a 50w don't you? If volume is your aim look at speakers. You can get big volume increases going from a 96dB speaker to a 102dB one. Bear in mind though that Eminence overrate their efficiencies somewhat.
6  Ceriatone / Overtone / Re: is it possible to switch a 50w HRM to a 100w after the build is complete? on: July 12, 2013, 08:11:17 AM
The amount of work involved would likely be more than building a 100w kit from scratch. You could then sell the 50w to cover your costs. If you were intending to employ a tech to do it then the costs of doing it that way become more favourable as Nik's build charges are way less than you'd pay a tech here in the West.

Don't underestimate the amount of time involved in sourcing parts either. Can be very time consuming if you do it properly with on-spec parts. And you'll find not every supplier has everything so you'll end up with a few lots of postal charges. Can all add up.
7  Ceriatone / Overtone / Re: 112 and 212 D-Style Cabs - Dimensions / Plans where? on: June 09, 2013, 10:15:27 PM
2 x 12 vertical attached. You will have to turn off the various layers to see an uncluttered view. Depth is 300mm.
Not intended to be an exact replica.

Why would you want to fit LP Powerscaling?
9  Ceriatone / Overtone / Re: Questions before I buy my overtone? on: May 03, 2013, 04:51:54 PM
Sorry to disillusion you but you wont sound like JB with an OTS. Besides the fact that he runs stereo, he never runs his Dumble clones without the Marshall running at the same time.

Get the Marshall first and add pedals to get into the right ballpark. Check out Nik's Marshall clones and derivatives.
10  Ceriatone / Overtone / Re: Build time for an amp tech for OTS kit 2 on: April 23, 2013, 08:59:22 PM
I'd say I took about 30 hours when i did mine. It wasn't my first kit build, I'd done an Ampmaker kit before and this is in a diffferent league. However I do have considerable soldering experience and I am very practical and have a very wide collection of useful tools so I reckon i did OK. I would be quicker if I built another one. If you are not terribly practical and have to make do with makeshift tools yes 45-60 hours , easily.
11  Ceriatone / Overtone / Re: OTS S&M questions on: April 06, 2013, 09:01:43 AM
surely someone owns one!?

anyone? anyone?

Actually what you're asking is for someone who owns both!

Or at least tried both.

I have to say the combination of an EVM and a Gold is magnificent.
13  Ceriatone / Overtone / Re: No output from OTS FM 100 on: March 14, 2013, 11:02:02 PM
Get a few. There might be an underlying reason for it having blown, then it'll be back to troubleshooting.
14  Ceriatone / Overtone / Re: Starting the HRM Bluesmaster 100 build on: March 02, 2013, 09:29:49 AM
Head over to the Ampgarage. You'll find spreadsheet BOM's with links to mouser part numbers very helpful IMO. Might be worth reading through more than one though as some people have different prefs for part types, ratings etc.
15  Ceriatone / Overtone / Re: V1 NFB mod question on: February 25, 2013, 11:04:53 AM
As regards parts for the various locations, the best bet is over at the Ampgarage. There are a number of BOM's in the files section that have Mouser part numbers and/or links directly to those parts. Best plan is always to get more than one of each item (resistors caps etc) and one value either siden to build up a stock of alternatives.

Very good idea to print out the layout and mark up any mods you do, and date them. I didn't do that from the outset and I wish I had.
