Off hand, you would need to rebuild the power supply, the filter board layout for the 100w is completely different. Also a new output transformer will be needed. I think Ceriatone uses the same power transformer and choke for both 50w and 100w, but that's not common; if you have an aftermarket power transformer, it may also need replacing. THen, of course there is installing the new tube sockets and their connections, etc.

If you have a 50w and realize it's just not enough (unless you gig outdoors, I highly doubt that is reality), then it's probably more practical to rebuild the amp.  IF you don't have the amp yet, then it would be a waste of time, money, and trouble to buy a 50w with the intention of making it a 100w.

The amount of work involved would likely be more than building a 100w kit from scratch. You could then sell the 50w to cover your costs. If you were intending to employ a tech to do it then the costs of doing it that way become more favourable as Nik's build charges are way less than you'd pay a tech here in the West.

Don't underestimate the amount of time involved in sourcing parts either. Can be very time consuming if you do it properly with on-spec parts. And you'll find not every supplier has everything so you'll end up with a few lots of postal charges. Can all add up.

And you do know a 100watter is only a smidge louder than a 50w don't you? If volume is your aim look at speakers. You can get big volume increases going from a 96dB speaker to a 102dB one. Bear in mind though that Eminence overrate their efficiencies somewhat.

The answer to this depends a lot on application. As hyweig noted, the difference between 50 watts and 100 watts isn't as great as the power consumption...you are only gaining ~10% more output. That's enough to be noticed as higher headroom but not really as more overall volume.

50 watts is enough power to be able to stay clean for almost any indoor gig I could imagine, even with a hamfisted drummer.

Well guys. I had my doubts about it, but you can only read about ceriatone for so long before you just go ahead and take the plunge. Paid for the 50w HRM about 30 minutes ago. I am sure after your replies that i will be more than satisfied. Now on the hunt for the kleinulator. Thanks for the tips.

You'll love it! Also, i concur with Wyatt. I gigged with a 50 watt Sovtek (actually about 45 watts, in reality, i believe)for many, many years. Thru a 4x12 cab, it was way more than enough. My 50 watt HRM Bluesmaster thru my 2x12 combo loaded with Weber's AlNiCo 1265's can cause internal injuries Smiley and they are not particularly efficient speakers, from what i've been told

worth letting you all know. I've had it for a few weeks now and it's the best amp i've ever played. Tuesday, I took it by Elite Music in Montgomery, AL where we side by side compared it to a two rock custom reverb signature using the two rock cab. The store owner was more than impressed with the ceriatone and actually we dialed my amp in rather quickly. It has been a good ride so far. I bought a used old laney cab with some HH vintage 60s in it (that apparently no one has ever heard of) thinking i'd replace them. Come to find out, they're rather lively and do very well in a closed back cab. I quickly abandoned my thoughts on the changeover to 100w. I'm very very pleased as you all promised.
