I actually left a comment on one of your 2550 clips, asking if you could maybe do a strat clean clip. And yes, Nik makes some awesome stuff. Love them. Gotta have them all. Hypothetically.

I see, can it keep up with accompanying a piano or organ at clean levels?
It'll probably be miced up into a PA, but I'd at least need to monitor myself. The amp will be placed around 4 metres away from where I'd be standing.

Its the vibrochamp with a tweed voicing switch.
USD25 more than the vibrochamp and other champ variants. But I think its worth it!
And also has a new milky faceplate with red text.
Very classy.
Only gripe is the combo cab, I prefer to have the controls facing the front rather than top.

British Style / 18 Watt / Re: how to get lower volume tube breakup with marshall models?

You could get an 18W TMB with VVR installed. And use 97db efficiency speakers e.g G12M greenies.
The VVR will be able to lower the output down to around 3.6W RMS, which is 20% of RMS. Which is still too loud for apartment use.
Lower efficiency speakers are a good thing as well. But if you're looking for something even lower for bedroom playing, you might need to get something else.
E.g some AX84 builds with VVR installed and a low efficiency speaker.

British Style / Plexi Lead, Bass, Superlead / What speakers for a plexi50 1987?
|
on: May 20, 2009, 09:49:37 AM

What speakers would you guys recommend in a plexi50 1987 in a closed back 2x12 format? 60W total speaker ratings enough? I'd be using some weber 1230-55s if 60W is enough, what about diming everything?
I'm not sure how ted rates his speakers. Or if the 30W rating on each of them is just RMS.
I like to play at the edge of breakup, probably install a VVR circuit as well.
What do you guys think?
Thanks.

British Style / JTM 45, 50 / Some JTM50 questions.

Hi guys, I'm sorta looking for what to get next from Nik.
What speaker power handling should I get for a JTM50? Is the RMS for the amp similar to a JTM45? which is around 30-35W?
Or is it really up to 50W?
Will 2x12 60W total power rating speakers be enough?
How does a JTM50 compare to a JTM45? Will a JTM50 give it more of a runchy cleanish tone yet have good articulation for funk rhythm?
How will having a SS rectifier change things? Will output power increase? If so by how much? Headroom? Will I still be able to use a 60W power rated cab?
I dwell more into the realm of frusciante's rhythm playing and I do like to play hendrix.
The speaker combo will either be 2x1230-55 from weber or 2x30W blue dogs, all ceramic. 16ohm cabs.
Thanks in advance.

British Style / 18 Watt / 36W RP Cleans

I really dig the warmth of marshall cleans.
Will the 36W TMB get me cleans to just slight breakup in band volumes? If the cleans are anything like the 18W TMB but with much higher headroom, its good.
I have a JTM45 from Nik, how soon does the 36W start to breakup compared to the JTM45?
Thanks.
