a week ago i upgraded the output tubes to  Winged C (SED) 6l6gc. i had read reviews stating they were very close to the RCA's of old. well i must say, my initial impressions was the amp was suddenly 3D!!. these tubes were made for this amp. i suggest anyone looking to upgrade their output tubes to go for these. even at higher volumes, they are excellent.

Yes if one day you want a Delta Pro, try to test it before ! Maybe it will be ok for you as it is so subjectif. But really I don't know how someone with a normal ear can like it.

It is probablely better for bass guitar.

Other way, that speak is a 400 W with pic at 800 W. Maybe it need to be played half power to be good... But my OTS is only 100 W... and at 6 volume and 2 Master, grand ma knock from the ground !

As for tubes, did you test all the others wellknown before Winget C ?

i had jj's before. but i never liked them for their tone... too bassy and midrange to me. i tried EH and Mullar preamp tubes in the preamp and ended up using the Mullards because them were a little more gainy than EH. but EH are good too.

i spoke with tube wholesaler i know, who could sell me any brand i wanted, and told me that whilst the EH are good, the WINGED C were ther best at the moment. he suggested i try them or else he would exchange them.

well i am very happy, especially after burning them in

since I'm in the the same boat as you, with the Ceriatone HRM 50, that Nik build in May this year, I thought it could be nice to share some notes and tones, too.

Please excuse the green ones I put in here and there and the camera is just an iphone, but it gives an example.



That's the gear used:
Overtone HRM 50 with Resistor Mod, C-lator into tc 2290, back to c-lator and split into Peavey Valverb to Fame GTA-40 Combo, the HRM goes to a 1x12" open back cabinet with a Celestion G12T-100
1994 Fender Robben Ford Ultra SP (Custom Shop USA)

I'm using Sovtek 6L6 output tubes.
Next thing to try will be a Celstion G12-65 ... or bettter, two of 'em  Cool
