This cab is my favourite so far – compact, powerful, tone rich and sturdy.

Here are the sound samples of the two built in mic capsules, one is on and another is off axis. Best result is when both are recorded (PA-ed) together.

1. Off axis sample followed by same phrase on axis.

2. Simultaneous recording with both mics slightly paned left and right.

That could be some of the nicest cleans I've ever heard!
Which head are you using here?

Somehow I missed this; very nice clean tones. The od sound is not as smooth as your live gig you posted a while ago. Different amp?

How much of a difference do you reckon those MM's are making Doc?

Hi Hywel,

At home and small club moderate volume levels (master level on2 or 3) it does not make much difference, but when I play loud – master at 5. MM are much bigger, cleaner and articulate. I was pleasantly surprised.

Here is a video with clean, clean boost (at 1.01) and drive (2.15).
Pretty smooth and fat drive tone.

Yeah that's the vid sound I recall. Great sounding and very nice playing as well!

Gorgeous tone indeed and great groove and playing.

What do you mean by clean boost: just PAB or with a pedal. I think I hear a light od pedal. Deliciously fat and reedy in any case.

Cheers

Thanks Fabien for your kind comments.
I don’t have PAB in my amps. I hate it, it’s thin and middly, kills amps good tone.
Instead I have a clean volume boost which also affects OD. I can set the desired amount with a pot which is sitting in the FET input hall (I don’t have FET either). See amp’s photo in this thread.
For my taste clean boost is much better and flexible then a PAB.

True, now that you mention it I had read it already somewhere in one of your post.
Funny that the PAB sounds thin on your amp. On mine (non HRM) it's very warm on the clean channel and could even get muddy on OD if I'm not careful.
I think your amp has evolved to be a very different animal with all your wizzardry. An electronic Darwinisme of some sort perhaps? All for the good anyway
