So now that some of us have these I'd like to discuss tones.  I'm loving mine.  Great clean tone but it takes pedals differently than the clean channel on my OTS.  I'm a big fan of John Mayer's many sounds as well as SRV's.  One in particular I'm really into right now is JM's tone on this live performance of Lenny/Man on the side.  Also love everything from the Continuum album.  Post what your using and clips are always cool as well.  I'll post some soon.

Hate to Burst your bubble but JM was not using a Dumble Steel String Singer at this time. That vid has a few Fender's, and maybe an Overdrive Special or Two-Rock in the background, but no SSS.

He only had owned misc Overdrive specials at the time that was recorded(an EL34 HRm and a 70's style combo with an EVM-12L in it).

He didn't get Jackson Browne's Silver panel Serial #2 Dumble SSS until he started the JM Trio, when he recorded Contiuum etc.

thats cool.  I'm still loving the sound from mine.  Love the trio tone as well.  Anyone ever used a smooth and slim?  Apparently mayer uses one in front of his SSS to tame the highs.

I have a Ayan Smooth and Slim, and it's NOT used to tame the highs.  The S & S realigns all the frequencies entering the preamp.  The low frequencies are adjusted so that you wont experience flab and inarticulation at higher volumes due to the bass being amplified along with all the other frequencies. It's probably a (hipass/bandpass) filter that only manipulates the lows and effectively readjusts to suit.  I wouldn't be a bit surprised if Gil Ayan took this design from the front end circuitry of one of Howard dumble's amp designs.  The S & S pedal is supposed to be the very last pedal in line to the preamp of the guitar amp.  FWIW the S & S does what it claims to do.

Hello guys,

I play this monster for one year.
I wanted an amp to play Bonamassa and Mayer and many others
I spent a lot of time tryiny all the setting to get the right sound

So this is my gear with settings

Gibson Les Paul Supreme 2004
fender strat US deluxe HSS
Blackstar Artisan 4x12 V30

AND Ceriatone SSS

Gain 8
Fet 5
Rock
No Deep
No Mid Boost
No Treble Boost
Treble 3
Mid 5
Bass 5
Filter High one before the last position ( roll off the high end)
Filter Low two before the last position ( tight the bass)
Presence 3

both negative feedback on maximum gain

I also use a clator
All knobs at noon

With strat first bright switch engaged and only one
With Les Paul desangaged the first and engaged the second

I use the footswitch to boost the gain and the mid as needed.

Those settings give a very nice creamy sound with the les Paul a la Bonamassa
and a very clean to crunch sound with the strat

If you want to try and taste, my new setting to get the ultimate Bonamassa tone:

O'Clock

Gain : 3
Fet: 3
Negative feedback both toggle switches in the middle position
Rock on
Deep off
Bright off
Mid boost on
treble: 9
mid: 3
bass: 2
Filter: both in one before the last position
Presence 10
Both pedal boost engaged
Master as you want

On the c lator, no bright engaged. All knobs at noon

Add some reverb and delay

For me and a Blackstar Artisan V30 and Gibson les Paul Supreme, this the best configuration.

Here's a vid with me playing an SSS. I'm playing the Les Paul and there is a Fultone OCD in front for the recording. Using the FET channel with gain on 6. The SSS is the prominent guitar sound for the choruses, and used for the leads. Love the SSS! Thanks Nik!
