Damn... this looks interesting indeed...

Edit: 5w will not be too little? Because the 50w overtone is not that loud (at least on the clean channel)...

Great post.

By the way, the amp name is spelled wrong Cheesy Wink Tongue

I've found the Jazz/Rock switch will have a big difference in volume- essentially the Jazz setting is much cleaner & 'flatter' in EQ- you adjust the master volume to compensate.  I have to say most users wouldn't use this setting- it's not what this amp does best!  Grin

I confirm that. Actually on the first week of owning the amp, I also thought that there was something wrong with the jazz position, as the difference in volume is indeed very big. Later I found out that it´s like that by default. Anyway.. yes.. the jazz setting is pretty useless for me too

We do have mojo dust for USD 299.99

Damn. I didn´t know that was available. I wanted 2 kgs of that...  Angry

Now on a more serious level. I don´t blame that customer for asking such kind of a question. And, to tell the truth, it doesn´t surprise me. There´s so much "cork sniffing", "hype" and "overpricing" around the music instruments industry (well.. it happens on other markets too, I guess) and even some prejudice against Ceriatone regarding their low prices, that in the end it´s  quite common to think that a quality amp with quality parts can not be made at the prices that Ceriatone offer. Add a bit of lazyness to search about info and some "newbieness" on amps and you get such kind of inquiries.

Not a big deal.. and for sure.. not a reason to fuss about. But it´s interesting and somewhat fun to read Smiley

Hi guys. I have an Overtone from the first batch of the year. Which means I have to change the pot. I´ll do the other mods too.

I´ve ordered all the parts from Jerry´s BOM and have them already.

Now I´m only missing the 100k alpha pot..

can anyone tell me if this is the right one:

I can't get the 50W OTS above 1.5  Volume and Master, with (Bright, Deep & Rock, Overdrive on, Pre-amp boost off) without blowing everybody out the door.

I´m surprised you say that. I find my OTS less loud than my 18w (haven´t tried the OTS at full volume yet). Actually I´m playing it at 3 volume and 3 Master volume. And it´s still not that loud (playing at apartment volume). I´m beginning to think there´s something wrong with my amp...

By the way.. any tips on getting the same components from Jzucker´s BOM inside the EU? Wink
40  Ceriatone / Overtone / Re: Overtone Video demo #1 on: April 15, 2008, 05:27:36 PM
Love the demos.... the tone you´re getting on video #3 is amazing Smiley
41  Ceriatone / Overtone / Re: Manual on: April 13, 2008, 04:57:00 PM
Nope. It´s a Non-HRM based circuit.
42  Ceriatone / Overtone / Re: Overtone in Combo cabinet on: April 05, 2008, 06:22:05 PM
I can't see a problem. I'm intending to do so myself as soon as the kit arrives. As far as I can see, you'll just need to make the sides longer and fix some battening to allow for the mounting of a baffle board. The Grille cloth will be fixed to a lightweight ply frame and will be a loose fit on top of the baffle board held in place by velcro pads just like most Fender amps.

Now what about speaker selection? Im thinking either G12-65 or a G1230H Heritage. Unable to decide. Would appreciate comments and experiences.

The G12H30 Heritage is only 30 watts. Not a good choice for a 1x12 cabinet, as the Overtone´s a 50 watt amp.
43  Ceriatone / Overtone / Re: Special Overtone Project on: April 05, 2008, 06:20:14 PM
Nope... 50 watts is more than enough for me. But I hope someday he builds an HRM version (50 watt or 100 watt). Smiley
44  Ceriatone / Overtone / Re: Just got my Overtone - couple questions on: April 02, 2008, 05:35:49 PM
That´s what I thought....

Thanks Mcinku and Chris.

Now time for a newbie question from me....

What´s the 1-N-2 gnd switch at the back of the amp? What does it do?

I´m loving this amp by the way. I think I never enjoyed a new amp so much as this one. Smiley
