Hmmm... My Ceriatone JTM-45 Bluesbreaker set sligthly above 2 is as loud, if not louder, than my OTS set at V 7 and MV at 5.

Same experience here. My 36W feels much louder than the OTS on the clean channel. I also feel that the difference in volume, comparing the clean to the overdrive channel volume is a BIG one. There are a lot of people reporting this. I think it´s not a problem, but the character of Nik´s circuit instead.

The S&M is not the amp Nik is talking about in this thread.

Yep.. that was my point on that reply..

Hello,

 It has to happen!  Grin

A scaled down, single ended overtone special.

Bare bones, but with all the tones...

This is my contribution (some at another place will argue it's my greed, but thats OK) for low volume D style amp, and for those on a budget.

It should serve as a good introduction to this style, without breaking the bank (I hope).

Price unknown yet but believe me I am trying hard to keep it real low for this type of handwired amp!

Thanks!

Nik

If the S&M is what he was talking about it's not any cheaper than the OTS.  Sad

The S&M is just a variation of the OTS. Actually it looks like the first version of the OTS that came out.. which was changed later to the current version after some mods suggested by a few forum users (JZucker in particular). Probably some people asked for the old version, after hearing Sami and Marin clips (which used early versions OTS to make those clips), and Nik decided to have it, again, available for customers who were after those sounds..

The S&M is not a mini-OTS. Not at all..
20  Ceriatone / Overtone / Re: 1/2 power mod on a 50watt OTS ? on: December 09, 2008, 10:21:13 AM
i think one of the biggest problems is right now im using a marshall 4x12 with greenbacks. its all i have but its way more than i need. i ordered a custom 2x12 which should help with the volume problem. i really like to open the master up to about 3 because thats where my sweet spot seems to be.

I´m sure it is.. the 50W OTS is not that loud. You´ll find a couple of posts here at the forum that confirm this. I´m playing it through a single Celestion G12 65 speaker though. I feel that my Ceria 36 W EF86, for example, is louder than the OTS

No one.. just Mcinku mistook your name when he wrote "Sami & Martin" special on his previous post Cheesy

Great to know you are enjoying it. Wink

I´m loving this amp too (got mine 2 days ago) and can relate 100% to what you wrote... I´m glad I followed Nik´s advice on this one Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy.

I will.. thanks Smiley

Bright.. yes.... but more than being bright, I find the OD channel just a tiny bit harsh. Don´t get me wrong, I´m pretty happy with the amp, but I want to tweak it a bit to get it "there" Wink

OD trimmer is around 11.

I´ll probably open up the amp during the christmas season and try Jzucker mods.. finally Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy
26  Ceriatone / Overtone / Re: S&M Special on: December 02, 2008, 09:54:02 AM
Mmmmm... I thought Marin´s OTS was still a stock end 2007/early 2008 version.

It must be similar to mine.. I have one of the first OTs (first batch of 2008). I am not 100% happy with it to tell the truth. Something on the OD channel that doesn´t quite get "there", where I want it to be. I do have the components to mod it to Jzucker/Scott Lernet/Gil Ayan specs. I just have to find myself some time to get my hands "dirty"..

No, it hasn´t been solved... we still have spam everywhere...
28  British Style / 18 Watt / Re: 36watt EF86 on: November 15, 2008, 11:31:33 PM
Yep.. I know. From the emails I exchanged with Nik, I got the feeling that he really likes this amp.

I was looking for a bit of Marshall flavour... medium wattage... and this was the amp that Nik recommended due to it´s sound and versatility. 18/36w operation. A "Plexiish/marshall" channel... and a taste of vox/matchless on the other channel .Smiley

I still have to tell my wife though Cheesy

You´re in good company then.. I did the same thing last week Cheesy.
30  Ceriatone / Overtone / Re: Heads Up: New Overtone Mini 5SE on: November 07, 2008, 09:52:43 AM
Let´s se.. at least 3 weeks.. maybe a bit more.. and then the built time if you order one of the first..

Don´t worry.. you have enough time to behave well. Cheesy

But I do wished it was a mini-HRM instead of a mini-nonHRM-overtone (hint, hint) Cheesy
