I have two 2 x 12" closed back speaker cabs, one loaded with G12-65s and the other loaded with EVM-12Ls. I have been playing my HRM 100 watter through them for awhile now and it seems to me that the G12-65s are a better match for this amp. I don't know how to describe it but to me, the tone just seems more creamy and smooth. Is it just my imagination or are my ears telling me something you guys already know?

When you crank up the output master and control the playing volume through the lead master, are you overdriving the power tubes or the preamp tubes? I was doing it the other way previously that is cranking up the lead volume and controlling the playing volume through the output master. Maybe that's why it didn't sounded good?

Just got this amp and its running through 2 x G12-65 speakers mounted in an open cab. Any recommended settings and tubes to improve the tone? I find it abit lacking in the gain department and its not as crunchy as I expected it to be.

Yeah I was referring to whether they would sound good with the DR103 Did you meant to say wouldn't?

Anyone swapped out the stock JJs for something better? Maybe Tung-Sol or Electro-Harmonix?
