Oh yeah I forgot to mention that I also owned a Redfang speaker. (for my DC30 clone)
But to my taste it was a bit to raunchy. (didn't play it in though)
5  Ceriatone / Overtone / Re: Eminence speakers on: January 06, 2009, 06:35:09 AM

Until last week I played my OTS through a 2X12 with celestion G12H and a greenback (G12M)
The sound was ok but not great so I thought the OTS wasn't really for me. (or should be tweaked  Grin )
Last week I received my Eminence RWB speaker and put it in a 1X12 open back cab.
WOW what a sound difference! Really this speaker sounds really great with this amp.
Round bass, complex middle and very nice smooth yet sparkle top end.
Can't wait till it's played in.

I used to have a fender Deluxe clone (5E3) with a Eminence Cannabis Rex speaker, that also sounded very nice. (traded this amp for a gorgious strat)
So high quality with emi's. Don't know about their other speakers yet.
but I'm gonna build me a few more cabs.
Another 1X12 (with texas heat speaker) and a 4X10 (with 2x Ragin Cajun and 2X copperhead)

not easy. Therefore you will need to reposition the screws on top of your amp.
(or redrill the holes in the ampchassis)

Is there a big difference?
Do you have pix?
7  Ceriatone / Overtone / First time rehearsal on: December 31, 2008, 10:14:09 AM
I wasn't to pleased with the clean channel of the OTS but yesterday I used my OTS for the first time on a rehearsal.
In a band context I must say that It sounds a lot better.  Smiley

Still wwant to tweak though.  Grin

I'd be very interested in how you get on doing that. Going for AB763? I think the Super runs with higher voltages than the OTS doesn't it?
[/quote]

Hi hywelg,

Yeah I was thinking about the AB763. Anyway more or less my bandmaster circuit first channel but with mid control.
(more or less Super reverb without reverb, tremolo and tube rectifier). I noticed that voltage is higher on the super reverb.
Just thinking how close It can get. After all D-amps started from F amps right . Grin
At this moment I'm still dreaming, i'm not even sure it can be done.
11  Ceriatone / Overtone / Re: OD Trimmer on: December 18, 2008, 06:38:48 PM
OD trimmer al the way down DOES kill the sound.

To me, my strat sounds very nice with the Volume on 7.
But most of the time I play my Gretsch guitars and they just sound ok when compared playing them through my '67 bandmaster. (that sounds GREAT)
Mind you, I play Swing, rockabilly and rock (max distortion think early ACDC)  most of the time.

I'm thinking on modding my OTS to a blackface super (reverb) amp but without the reverb.  Grin
But how would the drive channel sound like?

Hey Steven, where do you live in The Netherlands?

greetings from Belgium

Jesse

Indeed, mcinku is right. Learn these things first.

hi,

I build 3 ceriatone amps so far.
Started with the DC30 (not the most easy amp but not as difficult as the ots)
No mistakes.

Second, a 5E3 (simpler than the dc30 en OTS), no mistakes.

thirth, the OTS 50W, 2 mistakes,
1. wrong resistor in biasing (the 9V battery of my multimeter was to low, and I didn't see the flashing icon on it's display  Embarrassed )
2. wired the switches for PAB and OD on the back upsidedown.

My advice is, buy the kit you really want and work VERY SLOW. Check every connection ad least 3 times.
Don't rush. It takes me several days (weeks) to put an amp together.

There are good movies on ampbuilding on youtube.
There is a guy on this forum (or was it ampgarage.com?) that put a series of movies about ampbuilding on youtube. By watching them I learned a lot.

Read a lot on amp forums and ask questions. (and post pix of every step.)

and most important, work safe! there is high voltage in those amps!

Have fun!  Smiley

congrats mcinku!
It really is fun to build your own.
I've build 3 amps so far. (all ceriatone)
A DC30, 5E3 and last week I finished my OTS (still need to make a headshell though)
Beware, It's addictive.  Wink

Pix please  Grin

poticasoti,

Use the Four cable method to connect your GT-10 to your amp.
