Thanks Squatch, Mark Jenny is a good builder, makes lovely guitars, you will be very pleased. Cheers mate. p.s. you’ve asked for more clips and here is a higher gain blues “shred” with an amps drive channel.
Sounds fabulous! And some great playing! I really like your "ambidextrous" string bending - sometimes you'll bend notes up pulling downwards, sometimes up - it's great to mix it up like that.
Thank you dear Sir,
Yeah, I’ve learned “wrong” when I was a kid, pulling down and relearned it “proper” later. It is handy to do it both ways though.
Neck pickup is a Dimarzio noiseless vintage blues alnico and in the bridge is a Kent Armstrong Moherbuker – three pickups on one: single – tele/strat, double is a Gibson type humbuker and big four rail superdistortion with 27,5 kohm. Bridge operates with a three way mini toggle switch. Cheers
It’s being a while I’ve played my 100 w snake skin OTS live. Absolutely incredible amplifier. Nik thanks once again. OTS with the Mercury magnetics transformers and choke, specially modified Digitech RP 200 in the FX loop (switches amp channels too, no loopolator needed), Custom built by Custom Cabinet Company 1x12 Thiele cab with EV and built in mic capsules. Also self built from a different parts the TeleStrat guitar, my pride and joy. Audio was recorded via camcorder's microphone which is OK. Hope you enjoy. Cheers
Very interesting Mr. Fabulous, but if you read carefully Jay Mitchell’s explanation of speaker directivity you will realise that Weber and Tayden type beam blockers don’t work. The effect you hear with your “beam blockers” really is a comb filtering (Hi frequency phase cancellation) which is bad for pure guitar tone. But on the other hand – if you like it…..
Jay Mitchell’s foam doughnut is a good directivity modifier. We have done loads of experimentation with it and found out that best way to use t is 15’’ foam disk with 3’’ hall in the centre. The best result achieved when disk is positioned 30-40 cm IN FRONT OF THE 12’’ speaker. Even better if you create a same foam 15’’ FUNNEL instead of disk, put it in front of the speaker on some kind of stand. It will not only block unwanted hi beam, it will redirect it all around depending on the funnel’s wall angle. Much better idea than transparent Plexiglas screen.
Interesting thread. Usually most important things with the speakers are how they work with different cabinets and HOW THEY RECORD / sound via PA. That’s how listeners hear them in a large halls or open filds. Small club/pub gigs are different if you are not going through the PA, that’s why I always recommend to mice it up and put it through a little bit anyway, even small amount of sound via PA makes tremendous (good) difference. In this case EV12 is a best recording speaker so far. Speakers which also record well are: 1. Celestion Blue, 2. Celestion Gold 12’’ and 10’’ 3. Celestion G12 K100 4. Celestion G12 – 65 5. Ceestion Vintage 30 6. Fane AXA 12 alnico 7. Jensen Tornado Neo 8. Eminence Cannabis Rex 9. Eminence deltalite II 2512 neo 10. Eminence Raging Cajun 10’’
