Hello there guys,
A lot of you have indicated interest in the clone of the SSS.
Our version will be, for the 1st release, the 6L6GC 100W type.
To gauge interest, please post here, so I can see how many chassis, plates etc, I will need to do for 1st round release.
Since we wont do kits for this model, I will not source in bulk (100 chassis at a time) like usual.
Indicative pricing is 1700-2000, at the moment.

We are having a sale for the JTM45s.
The usual hand wired quality -
Mallory 150 caps, Carbon comp resistors, teflon silver plated wire, Alpha pots, Cliff UK jacks.
Sozo capacitor change = add USD 30
Turret board = Black color
Sozo capacitor change = add USD 30
Tubes: Genalex reissue KT66 (!), JJ GZ34, JJ ECC83s.
Regular price is 900 + shipment, so this is USD 150 off!
Limited to 50 amps, or until 31st August, 2011.
Pls spread the word!
To USA, this amp would be abt USD 970 shipped via UPS.
So, below USD 1000 for NEW hand wired JTM45!
We will be releasing new model, JTM46, to replace this JTM45 soon. So I need to clear out chassis and what not.

Hi
Did the tech do the voltage check?
Reason i stress on it is, in Oz, sometimes wall can go to 260V. The amp expects 240V.
2ndly, do you already have the shield inside your head cab?
A marshall thats out of cab, or inside a cab without shield, will tend to be noisy.
3rdly - when the tech biased the amp, are the power tubes still matched?
4th - the clip - whats that sound? is it hiss?
5th - when tech installed PPIMV - do make sure the wires go correctly. ie, each side of PI goes to correct pot lug, and correct power tube. Sounds simple, but we have diagnosed several PPIMV mods that had the mistake (hard to see since same color wire used, and they are twisted together).
6th - eliminate sharing of power socket with any other thing. And, if any lights, computers etc nearby, turn em off for a while. See if that changes things.
7th - Again, do check the voltages, and see if inline with given volt sheet.

Thanks! As for kits, thats true indeed. Maybe it'd be better if focus is to release more and more amps, instead.
Maybe try to focus on procurement as well, to keep costs down, and ultimately, prices.

I have a new chinese made Golden Dragon 12AX7/ECC83 in V1. (in my 50W OTS) Best tube I've ever heard, and I've tried a lot different brands. I tested it in V2 as well, but couldn't hear any sonic difference to my other tubes. But, highly recommended in V1  Nahhhhhh! Can't be! It's Chinese. it's in Asia! (this is tongue in cheek). |

Chris Whoa! Didnt know you use the same! Recognition? Dont think we were mentioned, but indeed the amp was done for Mr Anthony. It was a one off. There are factors such as deals and what not to consider. We dont do endorsements, so we're forever relegated to the unknown (to general public) realm? Can i charge you 10 bucks more so i can endorse Justin Bieber? LOL! I dont mind doing pink tolex on the amps. Thanks nik |

For the EF86 version, I guess we know it's an active type thing
For the 12AX7 version (Mayer, etc), is it the same case? Or is the inductor just there for show or some "cut" only? Sorry, I am not sure if this info is well known by now?
150W? Hehe..yeah thats everybody says, and then "pls install VVR on my SSS" hehe..
I think the 100W version would be cool for the time being.

I'd check tubes indeed. And voltages, perhaps (ask the techs, refer to www.ceriatone.com/voltage) And, do turn the amp from time to time, even if you dont gig/use it. And, with the OTS amp, check your settings. I get lots of "problem" like this, only to be fixed by the adjustment of the OD controls. Set all to noon, and then try both clean and OD channels. If the prob is only on OD channel, then it tells a lot. Or, if not, and then you swap the 1st 2 preamp tubes, and the cleans is now OK, then that tells a lot too. Ie faulty preamp tube. Bias would definitely need to be checked as well. Thanks! nik |
