46  Ceriatone / Overtone / Re: Which guitars go well with an OTS / which guitars do you own on: November 12, 2010, 07:17:04 PM
Telecasters are a freaking DREAM with the OTS. I have a 4 way switch on mine and that 4th position is pure bliss with the OD engaged. Generally I think the OTS 'likes' longer scaled guitars for their brightness and snap which IMO compliments the warm overdrive of these amps quite nicely. LP seem a little mushy with these amps in my opinion, with some EQ tweeking they do sound good though.

My current guitars I use with mine are
Custom tele
G&L S500 (stratlike)
MIJ Strat (alnico 2 pickups)
Acoustic.

In general i think the OTS doesnt respond well to "shredder" type guitars with ceramic magnets, the amp lets the pickups shine through and those magnets sound grainy and thin to me. "classic" type alnico pickups sound better to me as they have a sweetness to the tone.

do a search. this has been touched on numerous times (with the exception of the new amps- MK2, FM, 183)

183 is a clone of Dumble #183
FM is a clone of Larry Carltons amp
MK2 is supposed to be a two rock K&M i believe.

48  Ceriatone / Overtone / Re: Changing the OD voicing on an HRM BM100? on: November 11, 2010, 10:44:02 PM
you could try my custom HRM design (warning very midrangy)

250K treble pot (stock)
100K mid pot (original is 25K)
500k bass (stock)

lower the value of the treble cap (i use 200-330pf- depends on guitar/style)
Lower the value of the mid cap (i use 4n- down from 22n. This give huge sounding thick low mids)
Lower bass cap (10n-down from 22n. Keeps OD from getting muddy, compensates for  increased mids.)

On my personal amp i have a switch that changes the mid and bass caps. 4n/8n (mids) 8n/20n(bass) simultaniously
49  Ceriatone / Overtone / Re: New OTS amps on the horizon... on: November 06, 2010, 10:41:58 PM
Looks like a Emerald Pro from Two Rock with some tweaks. That sure would explain the MK=K&M=Two Rock

Only it has no reverb. Why has Nik chosen to not add verb any of his amp. What happened to the SSS Nik was working on, anybody know the real scoop on any of these new models?
no verb is simpler and it actually makes the amp perform differently. Usually you get better tone W/o reverb implimented. Hence why HAD didnt make to many reverb amps. Also it gives you the option of using any verb device you like, and youre not just stuck with the amps reverb.
50  Ceriatone / Overtone / Re: Setting suggestions on: November 02, 2010, 02:44:15 AM
This is what i do with my tele. I leave a compressor on all the time. (dyna comp) with the volume all the way up and the sensativity usually at 11 o clock. Clean vol 6, treble 3-4, mids 6, bass 4. Presence 7-8, and master to taste. I have the OD trimmer pretty low and i keep the ratio at about 6.

For your "Clean channel" crunch you might want to turn the master up to get the dirtiness you want, the volume control still cleans up your signal beautifly and the amp really sings.
Edit: i have the mid boost on (labeled deep) bright sw off and rock setting
51  Ceriatone / Overtone / Re: any plans to do a 70's Dumble style amp? on: October 28, 2010, 03:22:30 AM
no idea Nik seems to have alot on his plate. IMO to get a more 70's dumble tone just buy and S&M and remover the snubbers. The 70's Dumbles were REALLY bright and aggressive, non-HRM amps. With some tweeking I think a normal OTS could get really close. Like I said removing your snubbers is a big step closer to the 70's amps, which i believe rarely had snubbers, and low values (220pf) when they did.

i'd play mine if I had one, im just saying if I had $5000 i'd rather send my old bandmaster or Hiwatt for HAD to mod, rather than spend $4000 on a Bludo. Now If i had $10000... i'd get both Grin

If he die while you're waiting for the amp, you can say bye bye to your deposit  Sad

+ to really want a real D you must be either rich, snob or fetishist
yes and no. If you have records im sure you could get a refund if you talk to the courts. He may be dead in this situation but he still has posessions and money. I think you'd be able to get a refund, might take some time though.
54  Ceriatone / Overtone / Re: alexander dumble on: October 22, 2010, 08:59:15 PM
there are people that have been waitng 10+ years for their dumble. I dont think they can get refunds, they just have to wait i guess. Undecided

Still looking at a investment point of view, the dumble is a much better choice. Those amps will ALWAYS retain a huge collectors value. The bludos are great amps but are in no way as desirable as a true Dumble. You see them for $50K now, imagine the price when HAD passes and can no longer make any amps. The price will skyrocket.
55  Ceriatone / Overtone / Re: Dumble Steel String Singer on: October 22, 2010, 08:55:09 PM
none of them. The OTS is a completely different beast. Not that you can't get good SRV tones with them, they are nothing like the SSS
56  Ceriatone / Overtone / Re: new clip on: October 08, 2010, 02:34:56 PM
reminds me a little bit of santana if he didnt use a shitload of gain. I like it dude
57  Ceriatone / Overtone / Re: How do you use your OTS? on: October 08, 2010, 02:10:38 PM
I use mine for a range of styles. I have a convertable 2x12 that i also use and a mini rotary speaker with a 1x10. Sometimes i will use a second clean amp to use with it as well
58  Custom amp building, Prototypes and other amps / Mods and Tweaks / Re: tone stack mod on: October 02, 2010, 05:22:42 PM
there are litterally thousands of "tonestack mods" You can switch any number of parts as well as bypass the tonestack completely.
59  Ceriatone / Overtone / Re: 1/2 power mod on a 50watt OTS ? on: September 28, 2010, 06:06:15 PM
^^^ I suggest less efficient speakers. It makes a huge difference. IMO all these amps need are alnico speakers and it brings down the overal level and the sound is "less in your face." I can now open up the master volume a bit more and the tone is phenominal.
60  Ceriatone / Overtone / Re: Overtone Soundclips on: September 15, 2010, 03:27:47 PM
I am wondering... do EL34's output tubes lessen the gain of an OTS? All the OTS clips w/6L6's I've heard seem to be capable a lot more gain.

Here's a small clip of mine (w/EL34's) where I switch the deep switch on and off. Pre amp volume at 7, midboost on, overdrive level at 8, master at 4, no PAB. I played on a 1993 Gibson Les Paul Standard with Seymour Duncan PAF pickups. Fuchs Verbrator + EHX Memory Man in the loop. Forgot the playing  Wink

I heard no difference in my amp. If anything 34's have more gain because they have the ability to breakup earlier. In fact ive been turning the gain down on the OD since the swap and boosting the output
