i love the creamy santana tones too.
i play 70's yamaha sg's through my HRM (ev12 speaker) and the sound is so sweet... i love carlo's tones from the moonflower period. Mr Fabulous: the Moon Flowers album drummer is my good bud, Graham Lear. He played in my group for about 6-7 years. I loved that period of Santana. awesome man!!!!! that would have been a buzz playing with him in that era... when carlos was on fire

i would try a 240/240 power inverter regulator (australia uses 240V) as used with many generators to regulate the output and keep it constant.
they are much cheper than power conditioners and the output Voltage is filtered and fixed
you get them on ebay for about $200
have a look at item 390339897302

i have a HRM and its beatiful with a strat.....you can shape it as you want the HRM is able to cope with LP, strat and tele (and gretsch for that matter) and its just up to you how much gain you want from it and the tone you are seeking
definitely get a klein or c-lator with it though...it really makes a difference to the amps capability

Ceriatone / Overtone / Re: What pedals are you guys using with your Overtones?

artec APW power wah -> biyang X-drive-> washburn stack in a box (like a ts9 only bigger sounding)->hartman 8va->biyang chorus (about to be replaced with tech21 rotochoir) .... in the loop biyang analog delay and reverb
the biyang stuff is really excellent and inexpensive....... the x-drive is the only ts-9 style pedal where you can easily swap chips...i have mine set up with the texas chip (cant recall the number) mainly as a boost with sparkle.
the washburn stack in a box is somewhere between a TS-9 and a rat pedal. it contans TWO JRC chips and is excellent for rock based stuff...(google guitar player magazines article on this pedal... its one which never got the attention it deserved.)

with a lush reverb and analogue delay in the loop, and PAB engaged.... you get beautiful singing leads and notes which melt into musical feedback and like santana, position relative to the amp is critcal for attaning this .
you will find the amp handles high volume too and responds exceptionally well at the higher levels

tyes EVM12's are expensive... but i reckon you will save in the long run. by the tme you have stuffed about trying all the others... you will ultimately still wonder about the EV.
its an excellent speaker, with a super solid bottom end that will take everything the amp throws at it. its also far more sentive which means more dB's per watt.
the 1265 is a good speaker, but its not an EV

Ceriatone / Overtone / Re: Thoughts on the Jazz Voicing?

you know i must be the only one....i use the jazz voicing almost exclusively. with the preamp setting at about 2 to 3 oclock and bass way up treble about 12 oclock and mids to taste. i use the klein to wind up the output stage for some some output stage distortion. with this setting i get some really loud sounds with plenty of clarity and the PAB just tips it over the edge for some nice early marshally tones i love the rock voice on the clean channel but somehow love the tight focussed tone of the jazz setting on the OD channel. i get a VERY transparent tone which allows the sound of the guitar to come through.

i second tommy i have a 16ohm EV12L in my 50W combo HRM and a celestion g12-65 in a 112 box (16 ohm as well) the EV dominates in volume...but they two together are nice because the G12 has just enough warm mids to complement the EV

lastly i have a friend who has a Badcat HOTCAT30. i alsways hated that amp as it always sounded too bright and one dimensional. he was also looking to boaden the sound.
so we got an open 212 cab. and loaded it with one Vintage 30, and a celestion ELITE80 (this was out of an egnator) the elite 80 was a dark speaker on its own.
when i head the amp now with the original Badcat/celestion in the combo, and cab with 2 mixed speakers.... its fatastic!! the original badcat speaker dominates... however without the other two...that amp sounds sterile to my ears

hi guys
there are couple of points here
1. higher sensitivity means you get more dB per watt of power, so the AXA should be louder (case in point i use a g12-65 and EVM12 and the EV is definitely louder) 2. yes the speakers have dfferent characteristics...which in a dymanic sense (ie AC)means Inductance and Resistance and capacitance. every speaker has its own values and hence responds diffrently at any given power and frequency 3. mechanics: cones are made from different materials and and age differently and also interact with signals frequescy and power in different ways. hence the perceived difference in tone. 4. the physical design and shape of the cone and voice coil, and the gap between voice coil and magnet.... 5. ageing: magnets do not age, however speaker cones will both with use and also good ole mother nature... and that also includes the breakin time for them.... 6: and lastly dont forget the amp that drives it... the output trannie has its own set of characteristics and wll react differently to different complex inductive loads.
a speaker is a very simple electric motor in some ways ... if you think of it that way rather than just an inductor. they were never designed to be equal and thank god for that, imagine a world where all speakers were the same.... HOW BORING!!
mixing speakers is great fun... however its also a hit and miss affair....and also depends on your own personal tates.
btw: my weber had a rattle at one note when new and it settles after a week or two of hard playing.

the Weber blue pup 30W is a great speaker and projects really well and gets better sounding the more you turn it up. however the bass in the 10 is quite weak in comparisin to the 12' version. i have had one for about 4 years now and it sounds great after broken in.
given the OTS has a huge bottom end... i would recommend getting a high dope on the Webers to allow for later breakup (ie tolerance to stronger signals without distorting)...
i think a combination of a 10 inch and a 12 would be great, and like pickmaster prefer speakers in parallel instead of series... probably because the inductance load of the two speakers is halved as opposed to being doubled when in series.
one thing i have noticed with alnico blues.... they sound terrible in a muddly way when loaded in closed back cabs (ie orange/marshall). open cabs or combos are the way to go.
hope this helps
