I'm very interested in purchasing a completed Overtone in a cabinet, but I have some basic questions that the Ceriatone website left unanswered:

1. What are the differences between the various models: Special, S&M and HRM?

2. Is there a footswitch that comes with it?

3. Can the channels be changed by a standard 1/4" switching device like the Behringer midi pedal?

If you can refer me to a source for more data I would be grateful. If you feel like answering the questions yourself, I would be very grateful!

Here is all the Differences between all the Overtone models

 http://ceriatoneforum.com/index.php?topic=1471.0

(Can this be made a sticky? Too many people are confused about all the different models and it is discussed all the time Grin.)

1 Footswitch does come with every amp.

There is a 5 pin DIN Jack that goes to the Footswitch, It controls Clean/ OD and Pre amp boost On/Off

Your amp sounds great.......nice chops too!!
232  Ceriatone / Overtone / Re: About to order my first OTS/HRM on: March 27, 2010, 06:58:31 PM

The most important thing is to give the amp 3-5 months to break, same with speakers.
You really have to change your whole way of thought process when it comes to this amp, The sound is very detailed and articulate OD. You may even think it sounds bad at first until you figure out all the useful tone/feeling this amp has to offer.

I wouldn't recommend having to try this amp before you buy it. The OTS is a great amp that can be tweaked to taste after break-in from you or an educated builder. Stick with one speaker choice after break-in for a few weeks so you can get the feel for the amp, then after all is said and done you will be stoked!!

234  Ceriatone / Overtone / Re: Headroom on: March 23, 2010, 12:51:21 PM
I was really just saying from experience that all the 50w amps I've played before have not been "completely clean" when turned up @ a band setting w/ out a mic
( not  just the OTS, all amps in general ). This is of course  my own opinion and I guess it really doesn't apply to the Non Hrm or Hrm OTS.

Yes in the bluesmaster the cleans in the 50w have to be dirty'd up because even my 100w bluesmaster gets a little gritty with a band setting w/ out a mic.

It also depends what speakers your using and how many. If you're going to be using a 2 G-12-65 type speaker it will definitely break up in a band setting w/ out a mic even. The EV has alot more clean Headroom and you may be able to have a clean sound with a 50w

There is really a bunch of possiblility's depending on your setup, guitar of choice, speaker, how many speakers that will be used, etc.

If Clean Headroom is what you're after I would suggest the 100w, pending speaker choice the 50w would be suffice too.
235  Ceriatone / Overtone / Re: Headroom on: March 23, 2010, 05:24:05 AM
You will get perfect headroom with a 100w with a drummer/Band

The 50w clean will break up pretty quick if your competing with a drummer  without  the amp mic'd
236  Ceriatone / Overtone / Re: New C-Lator or Smartulator? on: March 20, 2010, 05:29:31 PM
Why does every body use these things,i am happy with my Boss GT-10 in front of the amp.Is my sound getting better with one of those ---lators?, and how?

Some say D-amps will sound multi-dimensional with a D-lator ( Impedance matching device).. The D-lator is 100% necessary when using time based effects (chorus, flaging, etc.), reverb, etc in the passive effects loop. It corrects the impedance swing coming back into the power amp and acts as a buffer also. When using certain line level pedals etc. the dumbleator will alternatively let you achieve more headroom without clipping the Effects box. Most Pedals and some rack units usually can't handle the impedance swing and are desiged to go between the guitar and amp. Also when using reverb in front of an amp that has Overdrive it tends to sound really bad.

It also contains the ability to be used as a final master volume for your amp, you can fine tune your favorite settings + volume then tune the volume on the D-lator to taste. With that feature you will be able to get all the good tones without keeping the neighbors up at night.

The recovery stage of the d-lator is where all the magic happens in most cases.

237  Ceriatone / Overtone / Re: help amp is down on: March 16, 2010, 06:45:32 AM

Check your preamp tube for the OD , most common problem in a tube amp is tubes.
238  Ceriatone / Overtone / Re: New C-Lator or Smartulator? on: March 13, 2010, 11:26:18 PM
The Kleinulator in the solid state equivalent of the C-lator. They are only necessary if you use effects and you don't necessarily need to buy the C-lator. They are both used as impedance matching devices and the C-lator contains a 12ax7 instead of a J-Fet chip. The Kleinulator was invented to be a lower cost alternative to a tube based unit. The C-lator is a copy of the Dumbleator and to my knowledge you will get a different sound with it also. I would suggest buying the C-lator if you have the Bread to. If not your amp will suffice with the Kleinulator.
239  Ceriatone / Overtone / Re: John Mayer Tone with OTS? on: March 12, 2010, 05:42:13 PM

Yeah the 100w has big fat lows whilst the 50 just doesn't feel the same. Of course some prefer 50w just out of taste and in this case to save a few $.
240  Ceriatone / Overtone / Re: John Mayer Tone with OTS? on: March 11, 2010, 07:42:53 PM

I agree 100% get a bluesmaster 100w, the lows are like floating on a football field of marshmallows
