211  Ceriatone / Overtone / Re: Preamp Tubes in Bluesmaster 100w - Details and Impression on: July 04, 2010, 05:39:58 PM
I love the Tung Sol 12ax7's in my 100w BM, I'm using Svetlyna 6l6GC's now for power tubes.

The Tung sol's are my preferred tube, I've tried just about every brand and for OD they kill. JJ's sound decent too but they lack the detail that the TS's give.

I had Sovtek 6l6's in before the Svetlyna's and they lacked something IMO

I'm going to try some old Telefunkin and Mullard (ecc83's) some time this week!! Got a guy that wants $25 a piece for them /tested just under good on a B&K 707
212  Ceriatone / Overtone / Re: Ordered my first OTS/HRM *update - SHIPPED!!* on: May 13, 2010, 02:16:55 AM

I was just saying to make sure that you put the d-lator in/out correct to the OTS's send return then put your effects that you wish in the send/return of the d-lator.
213  Ceriatone / Overtone / Re: What transformers for a HRM/Bluesmaster? on: May 04, 2010, 11:49:20 PM

The Output Xfrmr may have an impact on the sound of the amp, . There is probably someone w/ more knowledge on this that can chime in?

BTW

I have a Fender Twin Reverb Power Xfrmr/Choke

 A Fender Tone-master output Xfrmr w/ multi-taps

214  Ceriatone / Overtone / Re: What transformers for a HRM/Bluesmaster? on: May 04, 2010, 01:41:15 AM

I got a Fender Twin Reverb Xfrmr in my 100w BM and my amp sounds great. There are so many options out there though.
215  Ceriatone / Overtone / Re: Bult-in Power scaling in an Overtone? on: May 04, 2010, 01:39:12 AM

I get great bedroom level tone out of my amp. I have a 100w BM and the Master Vol works so well power scaling isn't really necessary.

D-style amps do sound a bit better cranked but I feel suffice with the master Vol. I think many will agree with me.

This has been discussed although, try the search function.
216  Ceriatone / Overtone / Re: OVERTONE HRM LO INPUT 2 AMPS on: May 04, 2010, 01:35:05 AM

You will get hum if the amps share the same ground. I read a Guitar player magazine w/ Joe Bonamassa that he stated that he designated 1 main amp ( out of his 4 ! Grin)to have ground and   lifted the ground on any additional.

You must be cautious while doing this although, it is dangerous if you're lacking knowledge on this . You will create a ground loop if ground is shared

 I am quoting others although.

I run a multi amp setup with a 64' Fender Bandmaster (ground lifted)  Dry w/ a Fuzz on a switching system & my 100w Bluesmaster (Wet) , both w/ my main pedal board.

I still encounter slight hum although and have been trying to come up w/ a solution to fix also.
217  Ceriatone / Overtone / Re: Speaker choice on: May 04, 2010, 01:22:29 AM

The two rock g-12-65  are made by Warehouse guitar speakers ( the ols TR 65's were made by eminence BTW) and are clones of the Celestion Heritige G-12-65 with a slightly different cone.
218  Ceriatone / Overtone / Re: Overtone - Blown HT Fuse on: April 27, 2010, 08:56:23 PM
Happened to me a few weeks ago also, I had noticed it was starting to hum and it blew.

I ended up having to re-tube pwr tubes also.
219  Ceriatone / Overtone / Re: Has anyone tried?..... on: April 25, 2010, 08:58:57 PM

Just run any time based effects in your loop ( Delay Chorus ,Reverb etc).

And any OD, Fuzz , Phaser, wah,Vibe, trem, Volume pedal, Auto wah, and  Ethos will go in front of the amp.

The Delay would go into the send/return of the Verberator and the in/out will go to the send/return of your amp.
220  Ceriatone / Overtone / Re: Dumble Steel String Singer on: April 24, 2010, 07:42:31 PM

They will all give you that sound givin your chops. Stevie Ray sounded like Stevie no matter what he played. The SSS was only part of his sound. I can get Steve esque tone w/ my 100w Hrm BM but I think any NON HRM would give you his tones too.

Most of them lows he achieved was Partly due to the 2 Modified Vibroverbs w/ solid state rectifiers, "15 Ev's  and various other circuit mods. There is an article in a tone quest magazine.

SRV had a strange brew of amps, I heard a bootleg of him playing threw just a  Marshall JCM 800 and he still got the same tone.

I've heard many great things on T.C. stuff ( The new and old  ) unfortunetely I don't have the bread to burn on a studio grade Rack verb like a Lexicon PCM or T.C.

I do understand your point on the parallel being transparent ( thats obviously why it is a versatile mod for the D-lator).

I'm not bagin on the Fuchs Verberator, after all he does have a good price on it.
222  Ceriatone / Overtone / Re: Has anyone tried?..... on: April 21, 2010, 09:06:06 PM

My d-lator will have a series/parallel switch and the reverb unit I am building will have a 100k Metal Film resister series w/ pin 2 of the 12at7 to the input jack so It should work properly. The problem with the Fuchs Verberator is that its designed to be transparent ( I Think?, correct me if I'm wrong) therefore not achieving the D-lator effect

. The Fuchs unit also has a Digital Reverb ( I really do hate digital reverbs ). This is IMO of course. Some may prefer a Digital unit, I do not.  I love Blackface style reverb and I think The OTS will be a perfect match.

Dumble made a tube Reverb unit himself called the Big Tex Reverb. I just wish there was more information about this unit as its about as rare as a SSS  Grin.
223  Ceriatone / Overtone / Has anyone tried?..... on: April 21, 2010, 02:19:49 AM

Has anyone tried a Fender style 6g15 standalone reverb in the loop of their OTS w/ or w/out a D-lator?

I am getting ready to built one in a 1u rack case and I am hoping that it will sound decent. I read an article recently that Steve Kimock stated that Two Rock Built him a Fender style Reverb and that he used it in the loop of his Dumble w/ a D-lator (Krinulator) w/ outstanding results. He said it smoked his half rack digital verbs he was used to using.

I may Build The Belton Brick into the unit also so I can switch between the 2 verbs or use them n'sync.

I believe I will also have to put a balanced line out so it will work correctly in an effects loop. Also a ground lift of some nature to reduce hum and so there is no ground loop.

Hopefully this will be a great alternative to digital units as there is nothing like good 'ol tube spring reverb!!!

I thought he's going steady with the Bludo now?

I can cop Matt's tone with my BM HRM 100w
