I'm running the amp clean with an overdrive pedal....it sounds great that way, but the overdrive in the amp itself is very rough and buzzy sounding....It's very frustrating because Sami and Marin are getting the perfect tones that I want out of mine!!!!
I tried the patch cable in the effects loop...i notice a tiny bit of highs diminished, but really does nothing to smooth out the roughness.
PLEASE HELP!!!
have you checked the pre-amp tubes as I suggested? try changing them with one you know is good?
Try disengaging the PAB, turn off the "deep" and "bright" switch. Keep the "Volume" and "Overdrive" know below 5, lower the volume on your guitar (what pickups are you using?).
I apologize for boring you to death with my clips, but I was ill at home today and I got fed up lying in bed all day so I did a quick jam. I am wearing the CERIATONE T-SHIRT!
Man how the hell can I relax with you posting those clips. It's like smelling a coffee but can't have it... OK that was probably not the right comparison but on the other hand, I really like my coffee.
Actually is was more like 10-11 weeks. Nik was waiting for the cab to be made so there was a longer wait. I suppose they ship quicker now.
However, I feel that the buzz is going around so the quantity of orders have probably increased in the past weeks.
Therefore, lucky you, you'll have one of the first Overtones soon!
so much for the amp not liking single coils theory.
Interestingly enough, I am not thrilled with the tone of my other Strat with Suhr pickups. There seems to be an intereference between the OD frequencies of the amp and the pickup resonant frequencies. With clean tones, it sounds ok.
Awesome Marin! What pups are in that? I just ordered a set of Fralin Vintage Hots for my American Deluxe (1998) Strat. I'm really looking forward to cranking it through the Overtone.
Okay...Mine came in on Friday!!! I couldn't open it fast enough! By the way, HUGE Kudos to Nik for all of his help (answering a million questions patiently), working with me to get the amp to me quickly, and a SUPERB packing job! I wish the amp had some sort of manual, as it's a little confusing if you're not familiar with the Dumble controls. Thank Goodness for this forum.
Okay, first impressions: Build quality is great and seems very solid! When I plugged it up, I immediately fell in love with the huge, powerful, punchy clean tones! I own/have owned many, MANY tubes amps and great clean tones and loud clean headroom are a must. This amp did not diasappoint there! I took it out on a gig Friday night, and was having a hard time dialing in an overdrive tone that I liked. It was very "buzzy" I ended up just using my Xotic BB Preamp and Keeley Tubescreamer with it. I had some of the really good local players come out and sit in and everyone loved it...it handles pedals perfectly, but I still want to learn to get the overdrive tones that I've read about for so long. Nik has given me some suggestions, and I'll keep tweaking it. I'll post some clips here soon.... Anyone have suggestions? should I be teaking the internal gain trimmer? THANKS AGAIN NIK for everything!
My suggestion is: give some time (a couple of weeks).
The way the overdrive works, the different switches, ecc....it takes a bit of time to get used to it. Also, the tubes are new, give them a few hours.
