I don’t have PAB in my amps. I hate it, it’s thin and middly, kills amps good tone.
Instead I have a clean volume boost which also affects OD. I can set the desired amount with a pot which is sitting in the FET input hall (I don’t have FET either). See amp’s photo in this thread.
For my taste clean boost is much better and flexible then a PAB.

Power wise they will be fine in parallel or series.
I always prefer tone when I use speakers in parallel, always more open and punchy.
Weber and Celeston alnico 10’’s  would sound great I think.
16 ohm and 15 ohm in paralel = 7,5 ohm

Definitely Celestion Gold! Sounds awesome and records great as well.
Also one easy mod which would have tremendous effect on the tone you need –
Get three way mini toggle switch, solder 47pf cap on one filament and 100pf on another.
Solder together their outer contacts and connect it to MASTER volume’s right filament.
From the toggle switch central contact connect wire to master’s central filament.
In the middle position your amp’s tone would be intact and up or down positions would give you desired top end.
This is not a country picking but tone is similar with strat bridge pickup and Celestion gold speaker miced slightly off axis.

KT88 is a great tube in proper designed higher voltage amp but it draws twice as much current than 6L6 so in OTS it can damage PT.

Here is a video with clean, clean boost (at 1.01) and drive (2.15).
Pretty smooth and fat drive tone.

At home and small club moderate volume levels (master level on2 or 3) it does not make much difference, but when I play loud – master at 5. MM are much bigger, cleaner and articulate. I was pleasantly surprised.

I'v left 12 way OD filter totaly open.
It can go as smooth as you want

An' the dust of the Grand Wazoo  :
You might not believe this, little circuit, but it'll cure your harsh tone too!

I hope circuit is self explanatory and easy.


But don’t forget – my amps are NON HRM !!! It will still work but do you need it when you already have HRM trimmers?
For more “bloom” try to replace your 150k slope resistor with 68k.
