Ceriatone / Overtone / Glaswerks 2x12 4 or 16 ohms?

I just a 2x12 Glaswerks loaded with 2 EVL's the cab is wired for 4ohms I have one option and that is to rewire to 16ohms. I guess the tradition with D type amps is running 4ohms. The reason Dumble originally did that is because he was sourcing Fender Twin transformers for his original Dumbles but is there a tone advantage to running 4 ohms? I Googled it and one post said there is more low end at 4 and as you go up to 16 your getting more high end which is fine because the EV's are pretty dark.

That's a nice selection of tubes, I might see if I can track down a couple of those. I ended up putting my Mullards in my Glaswerks Matchbox. I didn't really like them in the V1 or V2 but other people swear by them. I loved them in my vintage stock Marshall's though.

Wow I just got my Glaswerks 2x12 loaded with EVL's and it's the best speaker by a mile. Not sure why people prefer the G12-65's I think the EV's are superior. Definitely darker but I just kicked in the bright switch. The sound is super fat like a 4x12, I now have tons of bottom end thump. The cab came wired at 4ohms the traditional Dumble setting but I might rewire for 16.

Thanks they are great amps, I owned 3 Fuchs amps a couple years ago but this one has the tone I'm looking for plus the price was great. I found a Ceriatone JTM 45 for $685.00 in the local CL and I'm tempted to pick that up as well. I have Germino Blues Breaker cab I could put it in.

Thanks, I love playing with these guys. I've been playing with them off and on for the last 6 years and we finally put this band together a month ago and it's really taking off. Usually we have a keyboard player who plays a B3 but he wasn't there this particular night. He will be back with us Sunday though.

Ceriatone / Overtone / Finnally found the magical preamp tube

Well I've been through allot of tubes in the last 2 weeks. So far I've tried the following:
JJEC83S Tungsol Mullard originals Fischer Branded
There's more but I can't remember. Anyway I settled on the most unlikely tube which was way to dark in every amp I've tried it in. I originally bought some of these to tame a shrieking Fender Tone Master. The Gold Pin JJ ECC83S sounds amazing and super smooth. I put one in the V2 spot and it immediately gave me the smooth Ford tone I was looking for. The other change was adding 2 NOS Mullards to my Glaswerks Matchbox and pulling the crap Chinese tubes that were in there. The tone is superior to the Tungsol. When I switch out of the second gain stage which is the boost it goes back to the Tungsol which is harsher and more nasally. So I'm going to look through my tube box and see if I can find the other one and throw that into V1. Anyway great tube much sweeter and smooth.

Ok I did a couple gigs with the OD trimmer at 12 O'clock and it was way to mushy and compressed. So I backed it off to 10-11 ish and it sounds way better. The amp seams to have allot of overdrive anyway. I should have just left it alone. Now one thing I don't like is it seams like the drive channel is way too bassy without the mid boost engaged. I almost have to run zero bass unless the mid boost is engaged. is there a mod I can do to clean up the bass response?
