have you thought about using a 10M pot instead? in series with a 10M resistor so you can have variable PAB gain?
17  Ceriatone / Overtone / Re: Overdrive pedals HRM -- help on: December 26, 2011, 02:54:26 PM
the other pedal i use is a cheap pedal by Biyang called the x-Drive. its basically a tube screamer with iterchangeable chips. the unit comes with 3 chips,.....however i have installed the Burr brown OPA1234 dual op -amp (not supplied with teh pedal) which is much cleaner and transparent... its a great pedal for little money
18  Ceriatone / Overtone / Re: EVM 12L Classic Speaker Question on: December 26, 2011, 02:43:47 PM

Btw Has everyone here heard of the doughnut-shaped beam blockers?

Yes indeed. I have them installed in 2 cabs and 2 combos. Cheap enough to 'suck it and see'. Just make sure if usingthe spray contact adhesive to let is dry a bit before attaching to the grille, that way if you wan to remove it it won't leave lots of foam bits sticking to the back of the grille.

i have used these with great success:

hi guys
i have been using the TC electronics VPD1 with my HRM50. its absolutely fantastic...like a rangemaster with some tubescreamer added in. it also has two levels of boost which are settable.

the overall sound is transparent  and most controllable. my strat sounds really alive in my hands with this pedal through the amp.

i have found on teh HRM it has little effect until almost up full
21  Ceriatone / Overtone / Re: Moody on: November 28, 2011, 02:24:22 PM
the HRM is counter intuitive in settings ......for a les paul i tend to back off the input gain and leave the bright inactive
for a strat...i wind up the input gain and pull out the bright switch....and also back off the mids.... the amp somehow responds better to singles like this....it shines and is ever so nasty
22  Ceriatone / Overtone / Re: Renewed Love for the Jazz Setting on the HRM Bluesmaster on: October 27, 2011, 06:59:37 AM
i guess i am not interested in the robben ford tone...but instead cleaner bluesier tones like albert king, Peter Green ... and i find my strat has a certain punch in the jazz mode which you cant get on the rock setting (SRV tones). also the PAB is much less gritty in this mode

23  Ceriatone / Overtone / Re: Renewed Love for the Jazz Setting on the HRM Bluesmaster on: October 24, 2011, 01:35:43 AM
yes i use the jazz setting almost exclusively

its tight, clear and punchy when cranked

i usually have to wind the bass up to maybe 2oclock, mids at 9

and with the PAB engaged its luscious and focussed

i do use it with a klein and find it sounds much better with the klein wound up a little

i also found that it takes pedals better in this setting

Nice playing and tone.

I love my HRM 50. Great amps for sure. What speaker(s) are you using?

thanks soundperf
i have an EV12L in the combo and a G1265 in a 112 cab
i mainly use the Jazz setting and wind the bass up. bright active on the input.
i wind the Klein up to around 3/4 ... makes the amp sing

the EV12L took around 12 months to break in but it sounds so sweet with a big bottom....

25  Ceriatone / Overtone / Re: Overtone Soundclips on: October 14, 2011, 11:10:01 AM
here is one of my trio playing earlier this year

sorry its a long clip... but dont have time at the moment to shorten it

amp is 50W HRM with Klein

guitars are Edwards ELP130 with duncan antiquities, and partsocaster with lipstick pickups

26  Ceriatone / Overtone / Re: G12 - 65 on: October 03, 2011, 01:30:40 PM
as already stated... yes the g12-65 at 15ohms will be fine

i use one with my amp in a 112 extension cab.

may  i suggest that you use a 15 ohm g1265... so that if you also wish to use the other speaker as well then you can have the two in parallel, resulting in 8 ohm

mixing 8 and 16 ohm will not give the right impedance match with your amp
27  Ceriatone / Overtone / Re: Clean boost pedal? on: October 03, 2011, 12:21:10 AM
booster pedals are to individual taste

i use 2:

1: biyang X-DRIVE which is a tubescreamer type pedal with interchangeable chips...i generally set this for a mild to clean boost OD
2: TC VPD1 which is excellent...its a clean boost and over the top type of bost as well...and allows a "cocked wah" style of tone setting as well.

i tend to use these minimally though... i find the HRM and PAB are usually enough for 95% of what i need
