its a ground lift, reverse switch. it's not needed unless youre using two amps at once in which case you would need to lift the ground off one amp to eliminate hum.

And the winner was - WGS 4 x ET65's Even with the high shipping costs, it was still cheaper than enything else.
I'm going to mod the cab interior with a dividing baffle so it will end up as double 2 x 12 and run another head into the other side as soon as I can decide which other head to buy of Nik.
Hiwatt (HeyWhat) trust me im a doctor

You strike me as someone who wouldn't know Pulse Width Modulation from a Permanently Withered Moron. You might be able to describe the difference between a non-inverting vs an inverting amplifier stage. The concept of a virtual ground might be pushing things however.
An AB763 too long to build you say? Geez, I better forget about the Bright Switch for both channels. A capacitor and switch might take years to add.
Like it's 1980 all over again........, er, ah, 1965 for a DRRI.
You are ignorant sir. amps take hours to build by hand. This isnt a PCB fender that a robot solders together in 30 seconds it's a handmade amp that is carefully constructed. I think you should build an amp before you talk shit. If you had, you'd know how hard it would be to implement the features you want and you'd know how long it'd take, and that the amp would need to be about the size of a small car if you wired it all PCB like Nik does all his amps.

Ceriatone doesnt do complex PCB designs like that dude. If Nik were to make a OTS preamp it'd be a simple 1 input, 1 output, no fx loop, basic OTS tonestack design.
Adding all those features would be too complicated. Nik mostly builds amps that are based off vintage designs. Basicly all pretty simple designs the OTS being the most complicated.
If Nik could even add those features you want he'd have to make the price much higher, where you'd probably just be better off with a mesa or similar preamp, if youre looking for Dumble tones you gotta stick with the original design, if you want to get close, consider modifing a mesa preamp
the early boogies (mark I) were pretty much ripoffs of howard's amps

I'd be interested in a rack mountable Pre Amp in the Dumble style.
@ JD0x0: What is "the overtone 5 watt SE"?
Thanks.
5 watt single ended overtone. from what i know it's going to be a simple non-HRM Overtone without the footswitch (just a toggle) theres a posibillity Nik is adding seperate preamp and power amp standbys. I believe there will not be an FET board (not many use it anyway) and i was talking with Nik about adding a bias switch so 6v6's 6L6's or El34, 6550/KT88's can be used to change the tone and power a bit

Thanks all for your insights.
I agree that the range of the tone controls is limited in general, but the fact remains that I have 2 amps, built the same way and one of them is barely reacting to the MID control.
Which is odd, because the MID is the most straight forward of them all. It's a plate signal going through 150k and a 10n cap... what could go wrong??? So it is still puzzling me why I can barely hear a difference when I am turning the MID control on one amp and a clear difference when doing it on the other (with all other settings the same, treble and bass at about 12 o'clock).
There must be something I am overlooking....
250K is used on most dumbles and gives you a much bigger range. that could be the problem

you could try clipping one of the snubbers (try the one closer to V1) for more grit. Also raising the cap on the presence control was said to make the amp more Carlton-esque, on amp garage. Raising that cap effects the frequency the presence effects, a lower cap will affect the higher treble frequencys giving a more hifi sound while raising the cap will bring it into slightly lower treble frequencies that is said to give that carlton, brightness and grit

yes, it's actually more of the low mids that you lose. IMO this switch is mainly designed for use with hollow bodies as is cuts out alot of the "feedbacky" frequencys. Dumbles tend to be prone to feedback in a good way as it is very musical and transitions very nicley but at loud volumes with a hollow body it can become uncontrolable

the mid control may not make much of a difference until the lower end of it's range Ie. 9 oclock and below. Honestly these amps are pretty much set and forget type deals. Also dont forget about the treble and bass they work WITH the mid pot to get different sounds. If youre looking for less mids turn up the treble and bass which will be percieved as more scooped. Just do the opposite for more mids, lower the treble and bass.
Also if you have the treble and bass relativly low the mid control works less effectivly

the entire OTS series is channel switching. the main difference is the HRM has a tonestack for the OD channel (thats what HRM is) the second tonestack is located inside the amp. The tradeoff is you lose gain and the non-HRM amps feel easier to play. if that makes any sense
