I love diagonal cabs. I think my next build will be a champ ultra combo modded like mckinu's, but with 2x10 mounted diagonal
2x10 Like this?

Wall voltages are important. I always wanted to try Furman power regulator/conditioner but never had a chance. It is very expensive and I don’t want to spend 1000 pounds on it before trying it properly. Is anyone using it? Your thoughts please. Only variac won’t work because it will change voltage up or down depending on wall voltage change.

I seem to recall a post about a modded digitech pedal? Was that the one you speak of Pickmaster?
When you say "Better" is this convenience, tone or both?
Todd
Well that’s the good one in every way: price, tone FXs in one small flour pedal. Than Fuchs Tube Fx loop, Verbrator, Suhr mimi mix, Koch loop buffer and probably something else. My advise for OP – buy Digitech RP100 on eBay (probably for $60), turn up master pot on 99 and tweak inner EQ for your pleasure, use low capacitance wires and have major joy. My apologies to companies who are selling D-lators.

What did I miss? [/quote]
Yes, I guess you did. Sometimes one can use a site search for older posts. I’ve posted here several times about different loop devices which works better than Dlator-Bludolat-Cilat-Tonesuckulator. Some expensive, some cheap but very good and somehow almost everyone here still obsessed with average series loopolators.

Ceriatone / Overtone / Re: OD Trim Via Pedal

Old, good idea.
There are two ways of doing this: 1. Add third relay and third footswitch to bypass a trim pot, so you will have 3rd powerful lead channel with loads of gain. 2. Add a stereo jack to back plate and reconnect trimmer’s filaments to it. Connect with a stereo lead to the potentiometer in your pedal (one can use old, empty WAH pedal) so you can gradually increase gain. Cheers

I just changed my Celestion Vintage 30 16ohm speaker for a EVM12S 8ohm in my 1x12 OT Combo. My oh my, what a difference! Gone are the ice-picky treble highs, more clarity, more everything. Are there any other simple mods I can do to make the most out of the already great sounding amp? I would love more bottom end, the tone controls aren't very sensitive to an already sensitive amp. STRANGE!! Especially when the PAB is engaged, all the bottom end goes.......
Baby, ohhhh, baby, Are you kidding or what? When dreadful PAB is engaged tone pots are bypassed. Congrats with EV, it’s great. Be cool.

Unfortunately not in JM’s Dumble. But we experimented a lot to get as close as possible with Ceriatone. Loads of younger players like his tone (not his really, it’s Hendrix and SRV if you ask me) and they want their amps to be modified that way.

Hi, It is not really BM mod. It is an ordinary OTS 100 with following mods (mods are in red-ish colour). I modified about fifteen amps this way and it is closest to JM clean and drive tone. You have to switch 3 way bright switch on 68pf ! Hope this helps. But you need JM hands too Cheers

Pickmaster, did you try a G12 Century together with a G12-65? Would be interested if that is a good match.
Yes, at the CCC we tried loads of different combinations. The G12-65 and Century won’t work well together because of huge difference in db – Century is 102 db and the G12-65 is 97, so you can’t hear 65 at all. Century is to loud. Century works well with the Fane Studio 12L, Fane AXA 12 alnico, Emi Delta Lite II, Emi Wizard and other high db speakers. Do you find the impedance variations between models (overall and across the frequency spectrum) affect this a lot too? I find sometimes a pair will differ the opposite way to what I expected from the published sensitivity spec, presumably because of the impedances not being identical Hi Tone, Yes, you are correct. That happens mainly when you have two similar db, but different power rated speakers. For example Fane AXA12 alnico and Celestion Gold. At the 50watt Gold will sound louder because it’s max db is calculated at the max power output, when Fane at 50 watt just starts to produce probably 95 – 97 db pressure and reaches maximum at 100 watt. So if you have 2x12 cab with those speakers (150 watt) Gold would dominate near 15 - 50 watt and AXA will be louder at 70 - 100watt. Also bright speaker sounds louder than same db rated dark one but it is only on high frequencies and it’s just our perception on sound. Cheers
