Some people are just plain ignorant and well bigoted, the people who can see through that are the ones to worry about, I see similarities with what happened to the British motorcycle companies in the 60's, there products where shown to be over priced and well the quality could be questionable at times, along comes the Japanese and well the rest is history...

Hi Fi audio these days is pretty hilarious....it ain't just snake oil....it's triple distilled snake oil.

So what's with those speaker cables that costs more than the most expensive amp Nik offers on his website (pre-built including tubes too)? Are they really worth the price? I mean I glanced at a few hi-fi shops around here and the prices of some of the stuff are just totally out of this world, and makes me think how does those store sell anything..

I happened to run into another electrician on friday, and he mentioned his Audio amp project he is building, now this guy is a smart guy, but he is being drawn to the darkside (audio amps that is Cheesy)WHEN HE STARTED GOING ON ABOUT THE HANDMADE POTS AND PURE SILVER WIRE I WAS SHOCKED-$2000 in parts already and he has not even brought his caps Smiley

Hello timeforheroes,
If you have a local electronics store (not big chain type, where they are 15 year olds with a after school job) but the type that respect your business, why don't you go down there buy a few small items and ask if they can give you a soldering lesson, if they are worth going to, they will help, just don't ask when their busy Smiley-Josh

We all Have to remember how lethal valve amps can be, I would strongly advise that you try to do a Electrical safety course of some kind, and always remember if you do get a shock GO AND GET A MEDICAL CHECK
I don't mean to be morbid but a Friend of mine died a week after having a shock

I would have to say hendrix is the top of the list followed by John Frusciante, I love all blues from Robert  Johnson to the modern - actually I love all sound waves that are produced with passion and care!

but most of all if it is produced with the help of a beautiful amp

Thanks mcinku,
My friend has greenbacks in his goldentone (great Australian amp), but I have not played through that amp for years as he lives a fair distance away, I will check out the Lorantz, aren't they a audio speaker?

Speaking of the goldentone I am planning on visiting him later in the year and i will draw up a layout and maybe that will be my next project amp-Josh Grin

sounds like we have very similar taste in music (I suppose that figures since we are building 5e3's), I might give the blue a try!, hopefully you will post some pictures of your cab when completed?
