Hey,
I am getting the OTS 50 watt and I am trying to decide on what cab to go with it. Avatar makes good, custom cabs at good prices. I am either looking at a 1x12 with a celestion gold or a 2x12 with a celestion vintage 30 and a celestion g12h30. Which do I go with? Or is there something else I should consider?

I lucked out and found a 1x12", front-ported, closed-back Fuchs cab for $150.  I loaded it with a 12" EVM12L, nice combo.  For ease of portability, and the fact that lots of places I've played really don't like a lot of stage volume, the 1x12 worked out great.  I'd love a 2x12", though.

If you are after portability than go with 1x12", if you don't care about that, than 2x12" is your choice and just for the record, I would go with G12-65 . If you're after that smooth D tone, G12-65 will give you that. I also think all those other speakers you mentioned, would do the job just fine.

+1 "I would go with G12-65"

BTW, I also preferred it over the EVM12L.

I have the avatar cab with the combo you described.  It is simply incredible! It was recommended to me by another poster here.  I can't imagine it sounding any better.  That pair sounds really good together and the AVATAR quality and price is really good on it.  I haven't heard the oft used 1265s except on sound clips so I can't compare but the one who recommended the avatar combo has 1265s too. He recommends the Avatar mix over it. He said it sounds better with a strat than the 1265s, LP types are about the same he said.  I know it sounds great with mine

I also have the Avatar cab with the Vintage 30 and G12H30 (open Back). This speaker combo really cannot be improved upon, in my opinion. I have a combo amp with two G1265's that I thought sounded great until I got the Avatar cab. The Avatar with the V30/G12H is far more articulate. I have Kendrick Blackframes in my '66 Super Reverb and Weber's in my Bassman. The Avatar 2 x 12 combination sounds surprisingly better to me than those 4 x10 combo's. I have run a variety of amps through the Avatar and they all seem to sound best (especially the OTS) through that cab. I even have a little Fender Super Champ XD that sounds awesome (and very loud) through those 2x12's. The cab w/speakers weighs 38 lbs and is very easy to transport.
