Exactly!!!! Sometimes technique can make all the difference. I have always said that SRV and Jimi would sound just like themselves on a squier strat through a solid state crate practice amp.

Thanks everyone for your input.. Really appreciate it... I was just trying to avoid pedals, but I know the amp will be great with certain pedals..... Again thanks for your time and sorry to bother you all.... Im just trying to get the sound in my head out...

I had a play with amp today again!! And I found that the Jazz setting is where I am getting some great tones.... Does anyone else use the Jazz setting?? I really enjoyed playing with that.... I think with some experimenting and tweaking I can get in the ball park where I want to go...
