Hi guys,
Today I got to spend på few hours building my new rack setup. But when I plug in my Klein the amp gets dull, it looses a lot of bass and it gets sort of ehm...... "farty" on the 3 deepest strings.

Does anyone have a clue of what the problem is?

I'm assuming thats with no effects in the Klein loop. I'd check the input voltage first.

Then the bias on the FET. This is what Nik emailed me about it

You can check between the pin nearest to the filter caps, and the middle pin.

It's 22V

Nik

Hope thats of some use. Other than that has yours got the 10r resisitor and zener diode mod to protect the chip? Unfortunately Nik can't publish the layout but does your power supply board look like the ones in the website photos? This is the old layout. It should look like the photo below. Some people have managed to damage the chip with the old layout.

Thanks Hywelg !

I checked the Bias on the FET - It was 10V - so I turned it up to 21,7V

it helped a little, but still it sounds weird - When I run my Volume at 3 o'clock  and turns my master above 12 o'clock I get a Fuzz tone very similar to the one Keith uses on "Jumping Jack Flash" - MAN...that's cool - but not good when it is supposed to be clean :-)

I also thecked the input voltage..... it is fine at 9.6V

If the bias had drifted so badly out it sounds like you have a duff component somewhere. I'd email Nik. He be able to give you better suggestions for investigation than I can.

Maybe one or both FETs blew. This happened to me on bot my Klein's
In the new Klein lay out there's a zaner to protect the parts.
