In your modifications, you talk about 3 way switches, are they 3 position switches, that is the centre position is neutral, ie none of the capacitors are in the circuit?
Thanks Aj

Three way switches just give you one more  option and those Pickmaster used are termed ON-OFF-ON DPDT (dual pole dual throw) switches. So in the middle position the common is connected to nothing.

There is another common arrangement which might well be usefull in a situation like this when switching caps, its an ON-ON-ON DPDT. In the middle position the common is connected to BOTH.
