My overdrive channel still sounds scatzy, harsch, not singing or smooth.
Yes every thing has burned in and yes i have tried several different pre amp tubes
With a little compresion and delay it sounds better, but nothing like the wellknown
clips from marinblues or spm72(witch tone i like),i play a gibson les paul and a ibanez s 530 over a celestion G12T-100 hot 100.
Any sugestions?

Maybe you schould try it through a different speakercabinet... I don't personally know the celestion G12T-100 hot 100, but I do know that the speaker(s) has a great impact on the sound of the amp

Just write your settings here. Maybe we can sort it out here?
I have the OTS HRM 50 and it does the Robben Ford thing pretty well
on either my 2x12 cab with G12H30 Heritages or my other 2x12 cab
with EV12Ls. Latter is perfect for the Dumble stuff. No harshness or scatzy.
I have an older video where you can here it.

Also have to ask which model is it? S&M is harsher than OTS, and of course on the HRM you can tweak EQ to taste.

My overdrive trimmer is on the outside ,so i can play with it, i have the OTS normal.
Mayby i have to experiment with the speakers or sell this amp and buy a bogner or fuchs.

As I recall you did previously ask the same questions a few months ago. Did you check the lead dress topic?
My offer still stands regarding the topic you did previously.

I played like 6 different Ceriatone D-style amps, S&M, OTS, HRM, BM-HRM and harsh is not the word which I would use to describe the OD ch. I used G12-65 for all those amps and the tubes used were mainly JJ and Tung-Sols (nothing special).
So if your OTS sounds harsh, I would check two things.
First check your plate voltages... they should be close to 200V (V1 and V2). If your voltages are much higher than that, the amp could sound harsh.
If all that checks out, than go for G12-65 speakers. Marin and Sami are both using G12-65.... this speaker plays big part in the final tone.

Hi, I am Andrea from Italy. I want to tell Hans my settings.
I play the clean channel with bass boost enhanced, jazz mode, volume 4, master at 3 presence 6.
Add a RAT overdrive with dist at 11, tone and volume at 2 o'clock.
Gibson 335 and its pure Robben Ford, no way, even at very low volume (master at 3) it's Robben Ford!!!
But you have absolutely to invest some money in the Kleinulator, I don't know why, its effects is terrific, I can't explain how much the sound is improved by this simple box. I run it in the loop with no effect, but the impact on the sound is unbeleaveble. That's the secret! Use the kleinulator in the loop and drive the clean sound with an overdrive and you will discover the real potential of this amp.
Don't waste money in Bogner or Fuchs, invest 100 dollars in the Kleinulator. I tried a Fuchs and bought the Ceriatone only because it is cheaper, but the sound is simply as good if not better at a quarter of the price. Remember Ceriatone is point to point. Fuchs is not.
Let me know.

I noticed my amp sounds terrible when I use hotter (humbucker) pickups.

It's hard to find a balance, but I lower the Clean volume a bit (this had an impact on the OD channel). Lowered my pickups as well. and I make sure my effects (in the loop) are on the right level.
Plus the amp sounds better when you play louder.
I feel it's all in the detail with these amps.
Kleuinulator helps to level out some of the harshness as well.

Steven
I feel your pain... mine is less than stellar too   Huh?

I put an additional eq in the loop and this is the ONLY way I can get something that I like out of it.  I just seems typical of Fender style amps.

Alex,

Your set up is truly mighty!  I see you are Bonamassa fan... sweet!  Wink
