Very nice recording - delicate rythm playin' your part and a nicel layed back soloing.

Overall, your are a great seasoned band - like driving a luxury car.... relaxed yes. but with lots of power in reserve. :-)

I love your drummers crispy snare drum playing - and man that bass player is something else too.
However, you all blend in very nicely. Great, don't change a thing and don't touch a dial.

It is ordinary 100w Overtone Special but with the Mercury transformers supplied by Nik. They work on 230v and here in UK is 240 so I have more clean headroom.
Other tweaks are: 3,3 mf cap on presence, 0,01mf cap on middle, 550pf on Deep switch instead of 330pf.   440 pf on V1 s NFB instead of 0,5mkf.   68k on V1 slope resistor.
And finally three way switch with 47, “off” and 100pf caps on master.
It works for me and hope it works for others.

Nice to hear from you.
I'm sure Shane did great job on your Plexi.
Probably most important is a reliability matter with trannies. On the other hand I had no problems with Nik’s transformers so far. Sound wise I can’t tell the difference to be honest, except MMs are bigger, cleaner sounding (I had two power tubes removed so amp was 50watt). But that’s because tranie is 100 watt itself.
I don’t know, MM climes that their transformers are the best.
I wonder what you think? Tell us after you play your plexi well.

Definitely the EV and yes! It will be great in an open back as far the back hall’s diameter is smaller than 12’’.
8’’ or maximum 10’’ would be OK, cab won’t loos low frequencies.

i have a 70's vox ac30tb with fanes and i must say, its a great amp especially when turned up, as the fanes do not break up as much as celestions. so you get to keep your trebles more at higher volumes.

my HRM has a G12-65 which is good at lower volumes but fattens up and loses trebles (ie clarity) at higher volumes. i have just purchased a EVM12L to go into my combo, and move the G12-65 into a 112 box (open back) so i can get a good blend of the two.

weber make clones of the Fane AXA12 and the JBL. i have used webers before and they make excellent speakers and are very good quality-wise too. albeit the webers i have are alnico blues, they are faithful reproductions of the originals... so i would not hesitate in recommending the others either. these guys know their speakers.

i almost went for the delta as well but could not find a 16 ohm one....(just as well heh!!)

i have always been a fan of mixing speakers.... with careful selection, you can reaaly get a good coverage of the entire spectrum and produce some wonderful tones.

i hear the JBL E120 is another speaker in the same hertitage abd characteristics as the EV. also a favorite for people who want to maintain their tone at all volumes.

strangely... both speakers were used by fender in the 70's for the twins, which were notorious for very loud piercing volume and very little coloration.. and this was the era when twins were at their worst!!!

another speaker from that period was a brand called "Gauss" which i dont hear much about these days, but i believe they were similar to EV and JBL's
