Hey guys

I am really close to pulling the trigger on an OTS.  I have seen all the clips which show the OD channel - amazing - but how are the cleans and pushed cleans?  Does it do the fat, sparkly SRV/John Meyer/BF strat type sound well? At moderate volumes or does it ned to be cranked?

In a word (or two)...it depends.  The EQ range in conjuction with the switching options makes the amp quite capable to getting close...
But it's not the same....... I think I have it close until I plug into my Super for the real deal scoop.  In many ways I prefer the Overtones cleans.  I find them less fatiguing and sit in a mix better without being so loud.  A certain commitment needs to be made when deciding on a speaker if you want Fender cleans but an EV or JBL might be a good choice for compromise.

I would love to hear some clean tone from Overtone.

When I'll get mine I'll try to record something but I'm afraid it's going to take a while.

Here's a quick clean sample:

This is clean "clean". If you use the OD channel with low gain, you can get the John Mayer tones you have mentioned before....with a strat, of course.

Thanks guys - great stuff!
I am still tossing up between the OTS and the new brown Vibroverb clone.
Marin I found that low gain clip on you put on youtube - awesome tone, definately in the ballpark of what I am chasing!!

Hey and thanks for posting the clean clip...but I need to ask:  How are the tone controls set?  It seems to have no bottom end at all?  Are the clips pretty true to how it sounds?  Your distorted tones on your video clip are great, but the clean clip worries me a little.

I used 3 different settings to show that there are many possibilities. There is plenty of bottom, you just have to set it that way.

Marin,
Got any more clean tones to listen to, just curious, like to hear all the possibilities, like a tad fatter, and more bottom Grin

By the way, folks keep asking these questions about will it do this or will it do that.

All dumble amps are different but the difference between one guy's amp and another guy's amp is usually a matter of $10 in component tweaks. When folks buy high dollar d-clones, they often have to have some tweaks made based on speaker cabs, playing styles, etc.

So, just cuz you hear Marin's amp doing or not doing something doesn't mean too much. Almost any of the d tones based on the ODS amps are possible with a tweak or two...Or maybe it's perfect right out of the box. There's no voodoo here.

Sure does Marin - beautiful tone!  It's great to see this side of the overtone - clean, fenderish but with a lot of sustain.  Was this the clean channel with the level up a bit or the overdrive channel with the OD down low? Also, was this through the Jensen or the Celestion?
