Hello all. I just orderd an OTS FM 50 and a 2550!!! WOO HOO!! I can't wait to get them. I have read and heard so much about these amps that I had to join the club. What is the average burn in period for these, and, do I need to let them on for that entire time or is on and off okay?

Looking forward to great tone!!

hi brian

i reckon mine too a month or so to break in....
however i changed the original G12-65 to an EV12L and that speaker is just starting to settle now after about 4 months (midrange is becoming warmer).....the amp gets about 6 to 10 hours of hard playing per week

i also recall nik saying the ot needs a while to settle too....... but i have to say....from the moment i turned it on and plugged in ....its been heaven....

Hi brian, mr fab,

Indeed so.

Now, we do burn in for abt 8 hrs total (other than tone test time).

I have made some custom burners as well, we'll be using these soon. Hopefully, we can burn in more amps in one go, for longer time.

For burn in, dont worry too much about it. You can opt to leave it on for a few hours, and then turn it off. Dont leave amp turned on unattended for entire day/night.

I have a feeling it's not about how long you can turn it on in one go. The off cycle is also important, I think. Not sure, haven't really done scientific observation on this.

So, natural playing would be just fine, with some intentional burn in initially.

Thanks!

Nik

Nik,

Thanks for the insight. It sounds logical.
