Has anyone had experience with the Eminence Maverick speaker? It employs FDM technology which allows you to move the magnet in and out of the coil to yield more or less efficiency. It drops the output by up to 9db and supposedly makes an attenuator unnecessary. I'm curious if that's a gimmick or someone here has found it to work well with an OTS. TIA

I have never heard one of these speakers.  D-style amps, particularly when used with a C-lator or similar tube fx buffer don't have to be turned up all that loud to give up the sweet goods.  I have a Weber MASS attenuator, and find it completely unecessary with my 50w HRM...the only reason I'd use that MASS with that amp is for the tone stack equipped line out feature, so I don't ever have to mic that amp.  I do like that speaker concept though.

I own a Brown Note Delite 44, but I just bought and put one in a Mesa 1x12 extension cabinet. It really is great. I prefer using the attenuation (not sure that's the correct term) on the speaker to turning down the return of my buffered effects loop.

The speaker reminds me of a higher wattage Jensen. Nice bell like quality to it. I hope they continue making more speakers like this one. I'd like to hear a EVM voiced speaker or a hemp-cone version.

Any way I am very pleased with the speaker.
