But what you read is those talking about the short runs to and from their non-buffered loop on the amp to the buffered loop (ie: C-lator/D-lator) outside the amp. Also I beleive they may also use them in short runs to and from the effects in the buffered loop. But only short runs. This is done to try to micro-manipulate loss and also frequency response.

It would be my opinion that in your situation dealing with long runs to and from your effects that just a good quality relatively low capacitance shielded guitar/instrument cable would be the thing to use.
