The subject pretty much says it all. I would love to know exactly what's going on in the tubes when I flick the pentode/triode switch.

It would seem to me that you are taking out a couple of the "plates" which control the electron flow. Less electrons=less power.

It basically ties the screens to the plates, creating a "triode" tube. That cuts down the power, but I have never really liked the effect. But it is an option, and you do not have to use it if you do not like it....

Interesting. I will be able to find this out for myself when I actually get the amp, but what kinda effects does this mechanism have on the sound?

Dr Tone Control, Strats mostly, prefer saturated clean tones, a little OD sometimes
BM50, JTM45, 36w EF86, DZ30, Expression, + non-Ceriatones (Matchless, Victoria, Wienbrock)
Just started with pedals a little after a 10 year purist spell, but usually just delay
