Oh, and those are some NICE cabs mcinku  Grin How did that 6L6 mod change the tone on the 5E3?

Thanks for a compliment, I like this old retro style.  Wink

How did 6L6 change the tone?  Huh?
I actually don't know. I never used it with 6V6. All I can say I love how it sounds with 6L6.
...but I should also say I installed the Vol/Tone Mod from Bruce and it fits me perfectly.
You will find my clips in the 5E3 clip section.

Yes the cabs were built by Reasons...nice work and great price.  I did have to remove one side of the brace that is used to secure the back panel.  I carefully peeled back the tolex and used a little wood chisel to get under the brace...I carefully removed it from the cab.  After installing the head I replaced the brace back onto the wood staple and added some glue and secured with a clamp and let it set.  Looks good as new:-)

Sounds good, I guess I'll do that if mine is one of the ones that has trouble fitting.

That would be my BF Champ with switchable bias so I can use both 6V6 or 6L6.

sounding great btw.

Don't want to sound insane, but who wants to post pics of their amp's guts?

Here are mine..

the super bass (the cabinet is still being built):

nicely put together...

big transformers, SED winged C EL34's, etc. Lovely Smiley

Yes, it says super lead, but Nik didn't have a super bass plexi panel cause this was a custom order. No problem of course.

Very neatly done.

more guts.

also, I'll post the tweed deluxe and JTM 45, but I'd say this is the most impressive.

Get one Grin

Haha, well, the SB is louder (obviously) and more aggressive. Channel I is a tad less bright compared to the JTM, but channel II is pretty much the same.

Indeed, it is extremely loud. I bought a weber attenuator for it, just waiting for them to build it.

I am having some trouble getting good amounts of headroom out of the bright channel though...not sure why. I can't seem to crank it up past 2 without it getting all saturated. The normal channel is fine, though. I might have to check the bias again, I warmed it up a little for the 6CA7's I previously had in there and didn't cool it back down for the EL34's.

Haha, awesome Grin

Did you get any optional features? (impedance selector, master volume, etc)

I recently retubed my JTM 45 and biased it (it was actually biased quite cold before) and it's sounding even better.

I am going to order a super lead (or a 1987 lead, not sure yet) sometime because my super bass isn't doing too well. It just doesn't sound that great anymore...how this happened within a few months I don't understand, but I plan to just rebuild it myself with some other parts.

The only add on was the external bias point and pot.  The impedence selector is no longer a option...comes with it when ordered.  Wow...bummer on the Super Bass.  Maybe just bad tubes?
Next year I'm going to order me a kit amp...I'll start with something easy and work my way up.  Hopefully to a Overtone Grin
Good luck with the amp!!!
