I just pulled the trigger on a 36W EF86 from Nik!  I am sooooooooo pumped!!!

He is such a good guy to work with!  What are your folks opinion of this little tone monster?

Should be getting my amp in the next week or so.  Question for anyone regarding the "burn-in" period on the tubes.

Does this mean just leave the amp with the power on for some amount of time?  Or, does the guitar need to be giving the amp a signal?

If you bought your tubes from a decent dealer (Doug's, Tube Store, KCA, Euro Tubes, etc.) they will already have been "burned in".  I do not know where Nik gets his tubes from.  Generally the dealer will install a box of tubes in a burn box that has a lot of tube sockets to accommodate all the tubes.  I think 48 hours is the standard time period.  It is basically a pas/fail test because modern day tubes can have a pretty high rate of failure, even right from the factory.  Other than that I would not worry about it.  I would not want to gig with an amp full of brand new tubes, but just install them and play at home for awhile.
Good Luck

Congrats!

I just pulled the trigger on a EF86 this am.  I sent Nik an email yesterday afternoon with a question and I had a reply an hour later.  I am stoked as well!  I'm a "newbie" having just registered today.

Let us know it turns out, I will be watching for your posts.  I'm a "newbie" having just registered today and was glad to see somebody else went for the EF86.
