Hi Erwin,

Yes I saw it a couple of days ago.

It looks about as good and "pro" as any I've seen. $160 for the kit is absolutely fantastic. Kudos to Nik for slaying the tube loop dragon at a most affordable price.

I did notice the Glaswerks Matchbox has 2 12AX7s.  It ought to for $700.

I still want Nik to build various OTS preamps. He's not off the hook just yet........
2  Ceriatone / Overtone / Rackmoount OTS PREamp, Nik? on: March 13, 2010, 06:45:56 AM
Please make one, hot on the heels of the Smartulator! Single rack space high, with extra emphasis on recording capabilities. Cool blue LEDs and a sexy faceplate might help it  go far, along with speaker emulation.
3  Ceriatone / Overtone / Re: Mesa Preamp into Overtone Special on: March 13, 2010, 06:39:12 AM
I have just unwrapped, prepared and plugged in my newly arrived Overtone Special...just waiting for the tubes to warm...(haven't even plugged in yet!)

While I am waiting, I thought I would ask if there is a way of using my Mesa FormulaPre preamp with the Overtone Special?

Thanks

You might want to use the preamp out of the OTS --->stereo processor--->returns of Formula ---->record outs of the Formula for recording straight to the boards, now with speaker emulation.

I have a Formula Pre as well. Great clean channel, classic Boogie distortion channels, but hard not to sound like a Boogie.

This is exactly why Nik needs to make an OTS preamp like  Quinnamps.
4  Ceriatone / Overtone / New C-Lator or Smartulator? on: March 13, 2010, 06:32:51 AM
It's finally on the Ceriatone website, $160 kit, $250 assembled.

The assembled version seems to be about 1/2 the price of anything like it from Glaswerks, D'Lite, QuinnAmps etc.

All we need now is a new rackmount OTS preamp.

How does Boogie make a single space rack unit with 5 12AX7s with speaker emulation and tube buffered stereo returns?

PCB's

yep, also the kleinulator isnt tube, and the tube version coming out will take up more space

Any updates on Nik's tube D-lator?

RedPlate amps  come with tube buffered effects loops, in very small chassis. It is possible to get a loop in there.  The new Zingaro from Glaswerks also has a tube buffered loop.

The Mark IIC+ does Santana just fine.

I think the Ethos Overdrive is the closest you're going to find to what you looking for. Read the specs. I have one and it is amazing, more than just an overdrive. Direct input, speaker simulation, two channel with a boost. Worth the wait.

Check it out if you haven't already!

Well if  you can wait  10 months for delivery.

I think this might be a bit closer,so I bought one:

Somebody beat Nik to market. Nik should still makeone.

Perhaps he thinks Schofield is Dutch (based on the thread title) and it's supposed to be a reference to wooden clogs.

"Perhaps he thinks Schofield is Dutch "

Are you referring to John Scofield, the insipid American fusion player or Arnold Schoenberg, the composer?

Either way, if you're trying to appear "superior" in some fashion, you missed the mark by a few kilometers.

9  Ceriatone / Overtone / Re: Ceriatone Overtone Special 50 for sale - Germany on: February 26, 2010, 05:28:56 AM

I know what you mean about the Two Rock, I'm itchin to buy one too. I just seen an Emerald pro and a K&M LTD go on E-bay for a little over $2,000. I still love my Ceriatone and I don't think I ever get rid of it, just mod it to my taste like a lab rat.

J2 "Sig" is getting rave reviews. "Only" $4000 American.  Seems like a lot of dough for a little amp, but if ya got da dough.......

I think there's a Kimock model on gbase.com for a bit over 7 grand. I'm not wild about the faceplate myself. Looks very unreadable.

I'm listening the past 2 years Matt's cd's. He's very good player, I love his sound and phrasing.
About amps; to each his own Grin

Sounds  like Robben Ford in wooden shoes   :}

Great player. Can't say I've heard him before.
11  Ceriatone / Overtone / Re: Which Overtone is most like Fuchs ODS 30? on: February 14, 2010, 02:06:47 AM
Pickmaster, do you remember noticing whether the Fuchs had that much less available clean headroom or overall volume than your OTS?

Definitely not!

Fuchs had loads of clean headroom and volume. Actually only problem with this setup was 2x10 cab. I‘m sure if I had 4x10 with good alnico or neo speakers feel of the amp would have being much softer and bigger. Usually 6V6 s sound very sweet and liquid.

Clean headroom from Fuchs 30 was good? I like many of the lower  gain types of tubes, like 6V6s (6L6 family) and EL84s, but usually the amp is lacking a bit in the clean headroom department.  Yes I realize to sound twice as loud as a 30 watt amp you "need" 300 watts, but I prefer 50s to 30s for the clean headroom. It shouldn't make that much difference, I know.

I don’t like Bluesmster’s drive tone and HRM tone stack. Personally I prefer liquid and compressed tone of the non HRM.

Interesting, I tend to agree and have had a tough time deciding. I've never been a Marshall fan, more Fender-Boogie. I suspect the OTS or HRM (non-BM) best for me.

OTOH, as you said with Carlton's Bludotone and the FlexiPlexi overdrive, the market seems to be shifting towards the BM side of the house.

13  Ceriatone / Overtone / Re: Which Overtone is most like Fuchs ODS 30? on: February 08, 2010, 10:58:01 PM
Hi Pickmaster, yes I am considering it, and I spoke to the builder after you kindly responded to my email. I have a problem travelling up to try it at present. It's an unfair question, but how safe would I be in ordering one unseen, having tried the Fuchs and now also a Ceriatone HRM Bluesmaster? I also liked that amp, but it was 100 watts which I don't need, and I do like reverb.

yosemitespam, you're right, that Fuchs is over double the price of an OTS here.

You folks get hosed with VAT and import duties. I can't imagine paying the equivalent of $6000 to $8000 for a Fuchs, ouch! $2000 for a Ceriatone, not so bad.

I think a 50 watt  HRM or HRM Bluesmaster might be your best deal, unless you get a great deal on the UK domestic clone.
14  Ceriatone / Overtone / Re: UK made D style on: February 08, 2010, 10:50:57 PM

I suspect you don't like me because I play scales with 2 more notes in them. You might like the same scales, if you gave them a chance.
That is the sort of provocative comment that is unwelcome, unnecessary and just plain rude.

The best way to get rid of him is quite simply to ignore him (or her).

Yes, do that, rather than hopping on the popularity bandwagon. Although carrying a pitchfork and torch does become you.

I think I'll  study something non-diatonic tonight.  Chair Dance

Not at all. There's no personal attack there whatsoever.
