Why are your remarks often provokative and premature?? IMO an utterly waster of other forummembers time??

+1 !!!

As in losers.

Nice L6S from the 70s there. I'm sure you need a real Dumble to bring out the tone.

Robben´s Sakashta is not a Japanese LP copy at all. It´s built by one of the finest luthiers in the business and is made in the USA (although Taku Sakashta is indeed japanese). Not that it would matter to me, if it was indeed built in Japan. It does look like a LP, but only on the outside. But I wouldn´t call it a copy, but only inspired by the LP design. There are quite a few differences in the looks. Enough not to be taken for a Gibson, IMHO.

Every part is meticulously chosen. Woods, hardware, electronics. It´s chambered. And built to perfection. It costs around USD 10.000,00. I wished I could afford one.... but it´s way over my budget...

I'm kind of of the opinion solid body guitars shouldn't cost anywhere  near that. Archtop jazz boxes yes, Les Pauls and variations, no. Sorry. Crank up the distortion and one humbucking equipped  guitar sounds awfully similar to the next. Even a Les Paul and an PRS.

Don't get me wrong. If someone wants to donate a '59 Michael Bloomfield Reissue LP, gloss finish, I'd love one. $7300? You kiddin' me?

OK, make yourself  happy and pay $10,000 for a Les Paul copy. Subsequently, feel  free to brag about it on The Gear Page.

Like I said, I'm of the opinion no solid body guitar should cost that much. No where near that much, when a $2500 LP would do equally well.

Let me know if you'd like to discuss arcthop guitars next.

It was worth the 10 week wait!

Looks great, I'd imagine the sound also.

Did you buy a Kleinulator or equiv?

I think he'd love one. Something just tells me he'd love one to death.

Ceriatone and Bludo collaboration Huh? Why?

Why not? Nik could get a tube effects loop and Bludo could get a whole new kit based line and royalties.
It might be "cool", who knows?

Quote from: Pickmaster

Nik makes OTS almost three times cheaper then Brandon and quality is pretty similar and it’s much cheaper to import amps from Asia then US. I know. I’ve played several two Rocks, Fuchs, Skrydstrup and bludos, including Larry’s one side by side with OTS.

And the Ceriatone was  every bit as good? Not everyone on the  Gear Page  would agree, but what do they know?

Quote from: Pickmaster
Japanese in 80’s used to built much more high quality “gibsons and fenders” then original US companies.

Maybe, up to '86. Gibson has been pretty good since being freed of Norlin. I've got a LP , SG, ES175 and L5 from the 1990s, and they are all super fine guitars. Each and every one.

Quote from: Pickmaster
By the way I’ve played Robben’s (actually Larry’s) Gibson with $100 000 price tag on it side by side with Robben's Sakashta Nu Paul and Sakashta was MUCH better instrument in every way.

No offence my US friend, just facts.

I'm not much for ES335s. I've been playing guitar longer than most here have been alive too.

I can't get over that reversed pickguard on the Japanese LP copy. Is that how they avoid another lawsuit from Gibson? Gibson shut down Ibanez, also shutdown PRS's line of "singlecut" guitars for years too.
37  Website, Store / Suggestions / Re: 5E3x2 Tweed Deluxe - like the Victoria Double Deluxe on: February 01, 2010, 08:56:49 PM
4x6V6, 5Y3 Rectifier, 30w, normal and bright input.
Tweed Twin Output Tranny at 4ohms

A bigger sounding tweed deluxe with tighter bottom end.
gets dirty early, incredibly touch responsive.

BTW, have you heard the OTS, or OTS Bluesmaster or OTS HRM's clean channel? Sounds about as good as any Fender  Deluxe, Twin or Boogie Mark series I've ever heard. I think Wes Montgomery would have liked it. Warm Bassman sound.

I'm not wild about tube rectifier amps for archtop duty. SS rectifiers much better for headroom concerns.

Then there's those Class D type transistor switching amps, that put out 500 watts and weight 5  pounds. There's some really fine transistor jazz amps out there, like AI's Clarus model. Oh la la!
38  Ceriatone / Overtone / Re: Built in Kleinulator on: February 01, 2010, 08:45:42 PM

almost done, only heater wires!

Er, ah, Erwin, you did leave room for transformers and choke? I don't see a cutout for the PT, which usually protrudes inside the cabinet. Perhaps they all get mounted on the surface?

Best of luck with it. It should be interesting to compare to your Ceriatone and various D amps.

Transformers are all on the bottom surface, the way it was mounted by Peavey. It's just a conversion so I left the trannys where they are.

Got ya. I didn't realize you were using the original  magnetics. I assume the PT had all the right taps you needed, in advance.

Interesting, you could have bought some boards from Nik and done the same.  Which starts me to thinking about some old  Fenders laying around..........
39  Ceriatone / Overtone / Re: OTS as a jazz amp? on: February 01, 2010, 08:39:50 PM
My jazz recording was with Non Hrm.
But Bluesmasters have bigger cleans. I heard Larry Carlton play his Bludo(which is a bluesmaster) live. It has awesome cleans.

Interesting Larry picked the Bludo for his road duty. He bypassed all the fancy Two Rocks (geez they'd probably name a Signature model after him, $10,000....), Bruno, Glaswerks, Fuchs.... and picked the Bludotone.

I wish Nik would do a partnership with Bludo, maybe offer a kit version and distribution, parts, service etc. Get around those nasty "duty" import fees.

Nik nor Bludo can keep up with demand it seems. Gotta love that, someone is doing well in these horrible times. How many companies can say that?

On a side note, I am well aware of the VAT/Import taxes Europeans pay. If I was a big company like Gibson, PRS Fender I'd open a plant somewhere, perhaps the UK, Holland, Germany etc, making guitars of equal  quality as their American counterparts.  As it is now, most Europeans pay about double for something like a Les Paul.  I'm sure that kills demand, just a little bit  :}

Erwin made a believer out of me. I don't know which version, HRM, HRM-BM, they sure sound nice for archtop duty with a reverb.

Someone ought to tell some of the big jazz players, like Pat Martino, GB, Rosenwinkel, Metheny and the like. Rosenwinkel especially could benefit, as he often plays with distortion, as well as straight ahead archtop.

42  Ceriatone / Overtone / Re: {D-lator in amp}-Has anyone done this yet? on: February 01, 2010, 03:06:38 AM
Has anyone put a dumble-ator in their amp yet? I am getting a HRM Bluesmaster built
for me and I was considering it instead on a external unit. My tech/builder suggested it. What would be the benefits (If any)? My amp is going to have a twin power trany just incase I do decide to want a d-lator in there.

BTW, if you look at the Brown Note website, they sell something akin to the Kleinulator, on a board, for $75. It should work equally well in a Ceriatone as it does a D'Lite 44.

That's a long head alright. I take it the right most socket is for a 12AX7 to buffer the effects?
BTW, which "Dumble" schematic are you using for this?
No the most right is the phase inverter, left of the phase inverter is the socket for the buffer.
Basically it's 101HRM with added d-lator and some tweaks.

Any updates  on the builtin d-lator?

I noticed Bludotone has a built in tube effects loop. Larry Carlton now tours with Bludotone, leaving his Dumbles at home, btw.

You  strike me as someone who wouldn't know Pulse Width Modulation from a Permanently Withered Moron. You might be able to describe the difference  between a non-inverting vs an inverting amplifier stage. The concept of a virtual ground might be pushing things however.

An AB763 too long to build you say? Geez, I better forget about the Bright Switch for both  channels. A capacitor and switch might take years to add.

Like it's 1980 all over again........, er, ah, 1965 for a DRRI.

You are ignorant sir. amps take hours to build by hand. This isnt a PCB fender that a robot solders together in 30 seconds it's a handmade amp that is carefully constructed. I think you should build an amp before you talk shit. If you had, you'd know how hard it would be to implement the features you want and you'd know how long it'd take, and that the amp would need to be about the size of a small car if you wired it all PCB like Nik does all his amps.

Er dude, ever seen RADAR? Avionics? UNIX servers?  Ever built  a PC from the ground up?

Let's face it, we're not talking klystron tubes here.

PS:  I've been shocked by 5000 VDC. The doctor said it might have caused brain damage.  Certainly not "ignorant" however.
45  Ceriatone / Overtone / Re: Dumblelator vs. Kleinulator on: January 22, 2010, 12:01:29 AM
The Fx loop of the OTS is NOT line level; if you crank your mastervolume on the amp it's possible you toast your fx unit.
Some builders report a voltage swing of 100v before going into the phase inverter. I don't think the Klein can compete with that.

100V input to an op-amp chip? With what, supplies of +-15V?Huh??? Would make a nice PWM (clipper) while it lasts.

Vexing problem, this loop thing.

Maybe  Larry Carlton was right all along? Just mic the dry Dumble and process it downstream.

Sorry to be so glib, you've certainly done your share to solve the D-Enigma, many hours I'm sure.
