I like my BF Champ so much I wanted to make it sound even bigger.
This mod is easy just a switch and a 330R 10W resistor...

Actually it does... it's louder of course and the sound has changed as well. I would say that the bass response is different and the way how the amp goes into the drive has changed as well. I would say that with 6L6 there is more gain when pushed all the way. The grain pattern of the drive is different too, if you know what I mean.

So, does this mean that the Transformers can handle the higher watts from a 6L6 or an EL34?
I ask because I modded my BF Champ into some completely different amp that is supposed to take any of those tubes, but I haven't tried anything but the 6V6 because I was afraid I might blow a transformer.
