hi emeil

what is involved in changeover to EL-34?

i beleive it may just be bias adjustment... am i right?

I think so yeah! Smiley If you post any more clips, please let me know! I really love that sound you're getting. Thanks!

Tommy that's a very convincing Jeff Back performance... good job
I enjoyed that very much, thanks.

Thanks, just noodling. Forgot how nice is not to have pedals in front and hear true guitar and amp tone.

I think it sounds superb really. This and mr. Fabulous' clip are one of the very best I've heard of these amps... keep them coming!

I'd love to listen but can' download it!!!
any help?

OTS 50-Watt (Volume and Master on 2) on Lead Channel with K-lator, Reverb and Delay in loop.  Strat straight into amp with EA cable. Excuse 1-take noodling sloppiness and silly mix:

http://www.sendspace.com/file/ab727d

I've always used the clean channel with a couple of stacked OD pedals up front, but lately been loving just using Lead Channel and using volume control on guitar to clean up as required - so transparent and uncolored tone.

Some sound clips :

http://s245.photobucket.com/albums/gg79/axiology_2008/?action=view&current=CeriatoneOTS50.flv

2002 Les Paul Standard, Burstbucker pickups straight into amp with Strymon BlueSky Reverb in FX loop,  recorded into Cakewalk SONAR DAW using SM57 Mic. Small(2-3db) amount of compression added. I have the internal overdrive pot set quite low 9- 10 o'clock. Amp tubes - Power - TAD 6L6, V1 is Tung Sol, V2 and V3 JJ's. Celestion Gold speaker.

6 short clips strung together into 1:
1. Clean Country/Folk/Rock
2. Clean Jazzy
3. Rockabilly? - Overdrive at 2
4. Overdrive at half way
5. Overdrive cranked
6. Stormy Monday - Overdrive at 2

Seems I can't resist wiggling that Bigsby at the end of almost every clip Cheesy

Absolutely wonderful... that's my type of sound. Great looker of a guitar there. Love the Bigsby! Many thanks for the clip, I really enjoyed it. You never thought of putting some EL34's in the amp to tighten up the low end?

Can't wait till I got my OTS 50 and plug in my trusty 1993 Les Paul Standard Smiley

Thanks, glad you like it. No, I haven't tried EL34's, the Les Paul naturally has a rich thick low/low midrange.  The clips were recorded with bass control at 3.5. Turning it down to about 1 improves the definition of notes on the 5th and 6th string, particularly with regards to clip 4. On the other hand on clip 1 the lows sound great on clean strumming, because it almost makes it a decent substitute for a big bodied acoustic guitar. Although, if I was doing a recording with bass & drums along with that clean guitar in clip 1, I would definitely EQ out most of that low end.
I have, a 61 reissue SG that does not have the same rich low end as the paul, but sounds great in it's own way. It's more a matter of the character of the guitar, and setting the EQ's to suit Embarrassed, than changing tubes, I think.

i have seen many people looking for SRV sounds through this forum

i threw this together quickly and its a first take, using a generic backing track from the web and using a Tascam GTR1 recording the two tracks live. very crude but it conveys the sound and feel i was going for.

the guitar is my home made jimi style strat wit reverse neck and reversed pickups a-la lefty strat played right handed. i used the middle pickup throughout scuttle buttin and neck in hideaway.

reverb was using my GNX4 with Klein in the loop. hall reverb on and no other effects

i am happy to share my settings with those interested

again apologies for the mistakes

i have a 50W HRM with G1265 speaker, semi closed back, Mullard in V1, JJ in V2, and EH in V3, JJ's for V4 and V5

Lovely tone and sweet playing! really enjoyed i.

Thanks - just noodling, but I forgot how nice it is to run guitar straight into amp and use amp OD channel and not effects up front...just use the volume control on guitar and no Fred Astaire foot dance lol.

Li'l monsta in live situation.

Strat bridge single coil. Clean rhythm and clean boost solo, no drive.
