My only question now is the mv type2 diagram shows 2 - 2.2M resistors mounted to the 250k pot. Using a 500k pot, would the 2.2M value be ok, would I need a different value, would I need any resistors at all?

G Yes, they don't quite correct as much, but you run into other issues if you try and increase them. If the 500K don't satisfy, you are better off swapping the pot instead of those resistors.
