Let the JTM-45 run for about an hour wothout a speaker load. Didn't realize the standby was on. It was hot (OT was just warm) Cooled her down and fired her back up. Tone sounds OK, volume seems OK, there is a lot of Static/noise though that I don't reacall hearing before (new amp). I can roll some it off with the tone control on the guitar.

I was going to try another set of power tubes but all I have is a set of NOS Genalax and I'm not going to risk those.

No, chances are you didn't hurt it.

A.) I assume you weren't playing it.

B.) Not sure on your amp, but most amps short out the output jack if no plug is plugged in. This protects the OT better than leaving the secondary open with no load.

No, was not playing. The static wich sound like a crappy cable hum makes me think something got cooked.

Then I would check around the power tubes before suspecting the OT, heat may have damaged something...screen resistor, solder joint, etc.

You are just determined to get a new OT, aren't you?  Wink
